Do registries go on invites?

Do gift registries go on the invitations for the wedding or just the shower invitations? What about those who aren't invited to the showers? Obviously I've never been married before and so don't know the answers to these questions, so please be nice! Embarassed

  • DO NOT put the registry information on the invitations. That is rude and looks gift grabby. It would be ok in my opinion to put the information on the shower invites, but that would be up to the person planning the shower to decide. Maybe make a wedding website and put the information there.

  • It is bad etiquette to put registry info on wedding invitations. What you can do is create a wedding website with the gift registry information on it. Then, put the website on the inviations. This is what I have done and it is working out great. I used www.mywedding.com. Smile

  • It's considered rude and gift grabby to put registry info in the wedding invites. You can put the info for your wedding website with the invite as pp suggested and have your registry info there. Definitely ok to put the registry info in the shower invitation though, since that is the reason for the party. It can also be spread via word of mouth for those that don't use the internet by family and friends.
    Good luck.

  • Agreed with PP's.

Just for a little reasoning in case you were wondering...it's okay to put registry information on shower invites because showers are intended to 'shower' the bride with gifts, so obviously gifts are expected at these events.  However, weddings are not gift-giving events, even though it is traditional to gift a wedding gift, it is not required.  Therefore putting registry information on wedding invites implies that you are expecting gifts, which is why it comes off as 'gift grabby'.  Hope that helps!  Good luck with wedding planning!
