How do I RSVP for guest shuttle?

This is my first post on this board :)
Our wedding is going to be one-hour away from our hometown, (most of the guests are coming from the same area).  Because the wedding is far away, and also because we expect there will be a lot of friends who will be drinking, we wanted to book a guest shuttle to transport people from a 'park & ride' lot in our hometown to the venue, and then back.  The bar will shut off 30 minutes before reception ends and then there's the hour drive back to sober up.....or they'll at least be within pickup or taxi range.  So that we know what size shuttle, (or bus) to book, (cost varies considerably), we want to know how many people will want to use the shuttle.  Some have said that they will probably just drive their own cars.  Now my question...how do we get an RSVP headcount for the shuttle?  Do we use a separate RSVP card within the wedding invitation or do we just add it is a line to the RSVP card?  Any other tips or suggestions??  Anyone else had a similar experience with advice?  Thanks in advance for your help.

  • I agree with Kate. You can also add the information to your accommodation insert or reception insert and a line for shuttle with the reception RSVP.

  • First, just to be sure, is there not enough parking on-site if everyone decided to drive?

An extra line on the rsvp card would be fine, but you may still want to have an insert in your invite giving directions to the lot and to the site, so they understand better how this is going to work.

  • Our church was 17 miles from the hotel where we held our reception. We hired coach buses to transport out guests. At $500 per bus for 3 hours (buses left for the city at 2, ceremony was at 3, and everyone was back by 4:30 since traffic was light) we definitely needed a head count. On our accommodations card, we listed the info about the hotel room block and the coach bus transporation. Then, on our RSVP card, guests had to mark whether or not they were coming, along with their meal choice, and at the very bottom, in slightly smaller font, we asked if they would utilize the coach bus transporation. We got an accurate head cound, knew we needed seating for 86 people, and everything went great!
