What's you doing.... right now?

Just curious.

I'm listening to "Empire State of Mind" on repeat while making a custom poster on Zazzle, because apparently you can't find a nice black and whtie poster of the Minneapolis skyline for less than $60. Which means I'm going for the seating chart thing :)

What're you laydees doing?

Re: What's you doing.... right now?

  • Catching up on the History Channel's America series on tivo. I seriously am amazed by how good this thing is. I thought it would be more of the same standard stuff you already know. I like it a lot.

Poli - you gots love on the SB knottie poll :)
  • Eating Dh's homemade chicken soup and cuddling with the cat. She's being very cute and clingy today, it makes me wonder what she did while I was at work...
  • I'm watching SVU, waiting for Glee and doing laundry. Tonight's my night to myself and I am BORED and craving dessert, of which I have none.
  • Aww, what poll, megan? I did not know!
  • I just spent the entire day cleaning our house. It's amazing how much dust accumulates when you're away for two weeks for wedding/honeymoon.

DH asked if I wanted to meet he and a friend up at Chili's for a beer and dinner, but I'm sweaty and sleepy. I just want to have a bath and stay home. I told him to bring me something home. Smile

  • Shannon, you are my hero. I'd planned on doing the same thing today, but I was a lump!

I've been such a frigging lump this entire week - literally have done nothing. Except breathe. And eat leftover wedding cake. MMMM.

    I only cleaned the house today so I could feel better about myself. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-kiss.gif" border="0" alt="Kiss" title="Kiss" />

  • Eating a non-non-carb dinner (red beans and rice; thanks, Zatarains). Also watching Criminal Minds, listening to Max be mad in the kennel (he gets kennel time when we eat), and keeping a close eye on the weather. Still just a tornado watch, though. Some nasty stuff in the western part of the state. Rain's headed in pretty quick; lots of thunder and the roll cloud just went through.

  • Eating, watching Criminal Minds and waiting on some laundry to finish. All in all, a thrilling night.
  • Mmm cake...

Shannon, how did everything pan out with the house with the water heater (?) that needed to be replaced before closing?
  • Icing my leg, just finished dinner.  Going to blog and eat a red velvet cupcake soon.  Then I have to pack for my trip tomorrow.

  • FI just grilled me the yummiest veggie burger with a toasted bun and pickles. It was divine.

I'm also watching "One Big Happy Family" on TLC. Who are these people and how did they get their own show?

  • I just did my first "AW" post in the August 10 board for my DIY invites, I'm so excited they are done I could faint. Check them out in my bio if you are interested :) ... right now I'm eating home-made indian curry reheated (insert Homer drool noise here).

You have an amazing memory, my dear. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" /> Things worked out great, fortunately! We thought we were going to have to have the bank send their "approved plumber" out to fix the water heater, since we didn't actually own the house yet, and FHA wouldn't have approved the loan unless it was fixed. Fuucking catch 22. But then we found out that FHA had not stipulations on it, so we waited until after we closed and then DH fixed it himself!

Cost to have the bank's guy do it: $80 for showing up at the door, $50 for labor, ??? for parts

Cost for DH to do it: $10. It was just a tiny piece of PVC pipe - nothing major. WOOT!

So we're good! We're all moved in and loving it. Still so much to do, but we're so happy now that the house-hunting/house-buying, graduation, and wedding processes are all over.

    Feels good to relax again! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

How are things with your new place?? I don't believe I ever saw a picture!

  • Just got home from a 3 mi walk with my cousin and our dogs.  Waiting for FI to get home from work so we can eat, I'm starving!

L-Bride, I just turned on the show to see what the deal is... I've only seen commercials so far.
  • Reddy: Love the invites. You are a better woman than I because that looks very involved....a project like that would be a tedious one for me!

I went to school in Iowa, and whenever there were tornado watches, friends of mine from SE Iowa always wanted to go follow the storm.  No thank you.

  • Reddy - Your invites look great :)
  • Hurray for that!
It's finally starting to feel like home. We've got most of the boxes unpacked and have settled into a cleaning/yardwork routine. My garden is going nuts and we've met most of our immediate neighbors.
It's fun getting the history of our house from them too. Apparently the owner moved out 3 years ago assuming he could sell the house after he moved, and then was never able to sell it. Because he never came back the house was in great condition but still foreclosure priced so it was awesome. We do have 3 years worth of leaves to clear, lawn in not so great condition, etc. I've got some in my blog, I need to get newer ones up though :)

</div><div>lol, the funny thing is I'm a really detail-oriented artist and even this project was too involved for me. I told FI, "That was the most complicated part to our wedding- if anything even gets close to being that complicated we are just scrapping the idea."</div><div>  He heartily agreed.</div>

Sounds a lot like our situation! We've settled into the cleaning/yardwork routine as well. It, like your house, needs some love in the yard. It sat here for quite some time, unoccupied, and the grass has dead patches and we've probably trimmed the equivalent of a quarter acre of dead palm fronds, branches, leaves, etc. from the trees/bushes since we moved in. But it's been fun. :)

I'm jealous of your garden skills! DH and I bought a bunch of awesome landscaping books and we've been learning all kinds of stuff. We have so many ideas now, but haven't actually started anything yet. We have tons of yard, so we're still making plans. But I want veggies, fruits, herbs, tons of flower beds, trees, arbors, fountains, pergolas, raised beds, bird-feeders, a bird bath, maybe a bridge and a pond? I'm dead serious. And maybe crazy. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

  • Haha :) I just look to my parent's yard for inspiration. When they moved in ...7 years ago...it was just a rambler sitting in the middle of a two lot yard with a random cement pad in the back. Now they have a rock garden, willow tree, fish pond, squirrel carnival and tons of bird feeders.
I'm so excited about my little veggie garden. I planted radishes, carrots, calorabi, spinach, beans and peppers when we moved in. I have a few radishes that should be ready next week and everything else is maybe a month away. My tomato is getting huge too.
This year is mostly the planning year, then next summer will be the serious landscaping year.
  • I just got home from my first RPM class.  I think I am going to die now.
