save the dates

How far in advance should I be sending out my Save the Dates?  We're just over a year away from the big day and I don't want to send them out too early or too late. 
Any suggestions?

    6-9 months-ish.  More on the 9 month end if your date is around a holiday or some time when travel might be harder/more expensive to arrange.
