Who to get gifts for?

I just had a quick question...

Who all gets gifts from the bride? I know I get my parents something. I know I get my bridal party gifts. My FI's parents are divorced and both remarried, so do I get all 4 of them gifts? Or just his mother and father? Or should I get 1 gift for each couple?

That was more than one question, but you get it :)

Re: Who to get gifts for?

  • I got a gift for...

    All bridal party
    Ring Bearers
    Flower Girl
    FMIL/ FFIL
    My Mother
    My Father
    My Step Mother
    My Step Father

You can perfectly give one gift to your mother and step father/ father step mother
  • We did:
    All bridal party
    Flower girls
    Ring bearer
    DH's parents
    My mom and stepdad
    My dad and his husband
    2 ceremony readers
    Officiant
    Grandparents
A few other people who donated their time - my SIL who did our flowers, my cousin and aunt who did our invitations, another aunt who made favors

All of our parents got a "coupon" for a post-wedding Mixbook and a few individual things. My mom and MIL each got a piece of jewelry, my dad and FIL got tie pins and ties, my stepdad got a traditional drinking horn, my dad's husband got a pair of cufflinks.  Basically we shopped for the parents as if it were a regular holiday - nothing we gave was for the wedding.

  • Awesome, thank you! I like the advice about shopping as if it were a regular holiday!

  • I have a question to add to this:

If FI and I are paying for the entire wedding, do we need to give gifts to our parents? I am gifting the bridal party, the oficiant etc.

Yes, I think it's the nice thing to do. it doesn't have to be anything huge, but it's nice to recognize them and their contributions to who you are.

<div>You could make something? If you look on Pinterest, there are tons of DIY things that would be good presents for parents that don't cost a lot. It'd be more like a "thanks for raising me" present or something like that? </div>
