Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Will my heels sink into the grass? GROSS.

New issue just poped to my mind about my ceremony location which is outside on a lucious lawn.
Not only do I play to wear heels, but I want HIGH heels. I love to be glamorous! But any girl will tell you that they'll be sinking into the ground which is not anyones picture perfect idea while walking down the aisle. I really didn't want a runner or aisle of any sort other than my flower girls autumn leaves trail for our fall wedding. What should I do!?!

  • No one will see your shoes, at least during the outdoor ceremony.  If you are having an indoor reception, you can always change shoes before the reception or before any photos where your shoes might be seen.  Or just for the bridals.

I'd suggest something like wedge heels, a bigger/wider heel, or flats.

If you still insist on high, skinny heels, you will have to walk on your tippy toes.
  • They make these cool things you can put on your heels.  I don't know if they work though.

  • I'd go with flats for the ceremony and then change into the heels for everything where you will be on solid ground.

Yes, they have those little insert things, but I wouldn't want to scratch/dirty up my glam heels that I bought specifically for the wedding.  Then again, I spent more on my wedding shoes than any other pair of shoes I've ever bought, so take that with a grain of salt.
  • The problem with wearing flats for the ceremony and then the really high heels for the solid ground time is that the dress will be off.  It will be hemmed for the heels, and so won't fall correctly for the ceremony.

I tried to do the same with my MOB dress for DD's outdoor wedding.  I just had to suck it up and wear the heels.

My DD got a pair of TALL platform flip flops to wear for the ceremony and it worked perfectly for her.  You could also get a platform or wedge shoe the same height as the heels you want to wear.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • This was one of my main concerns. I was planning on getting married outside in a garden. I am wearing five inch sitleto heels. I was worried about ruining my shoes or tripping when my heels dug  into the grass. I am very attached to my shoes. I was so worried that I ultimately decided to have a  indoor ceremony as so my shoes would stay in tact. I was also worried about the possiblity of rain. It is up to you in the end, it is your wedding!!!
  • Thank you ladies! I think I'll settle for some same-height wedges for the ceremony and wear my glam stiletto's for the reception. Well, it's more like my fiancee & budget that are going to have to settle hahaha
