I need help. WR

I have decided to scrap my jewelry I have previously purchased.

I know this is going to make me sound like a big toolbag but I looooved Kate Middleton's earrings. I would love to get a pair similar to them. I have found a few that I like but I am worried that I will still need a necklace even though I don't really want a necklace.

Let me post my dress and the earrings I am looking at and you ladies can tell me if I am crazy :) Sorry for the ill fitting dress photo

I am so not set on those earrings though. You can make suggestions. Halp?

  • My earrings are similar and I'm not doing a necklace.  You can easily do those earrings without a necklace!   Go for it Rosie!

  • No I totally get it! I loved the earrings I had bought until I saw hers and then am second guessing my choices now.

I LOVE those earrings though. I don't think you have to have a necklace though. If you did have one, it could be a simple necklace with maybe just a single pendant in the middle?
  • Hmm, there were a pair that someone posted on the A&A board last week after the wedding. Let me see if I can find the thread...
  • I didn't wear a necklace either.

  • I like the earrings. You could go either way with the necklace, but I think I'd go with something small. Meaning, a thin chain and a small charm or something, otherwise it might be a bit too much. But I like necklaces, and am partial to them.
  • Those are beautiful and I think a necklace with those might be overwhelming.

I like those earrings! I think if you wear big, sparkly earrings and maybe some sort of sparkly bracelet, you wouldn't need to wear a necklace. I am also a fan of the bare neck/collarbone look though.
  • I didn't wear a necklace either, just earrings.
  • I love you girls. FMIL wants me to wear a necklace badly but NOTHING stands out to me. I think I will go with the earrings and a big bangle braclet. Yippeeee

Rosie, does your FMIL have a specific necklace she wants you to wear or does she just think you need to wear one because that's what people do?

I don't think you need one. I'm all about big earrings and no necklace though.
  • Those earrings are beautiful and I don't think you need a necklace with them. How about a simple crystal tennis bracelet?

  • i agree with the PP and am also going necklace-less.  however, the specific earrings you were looking at had one review and it was bad.  i think tejani has something similar - pricier but nicer.

  • The review isn't good on the earrings, but I do love the style. And I hear you on loving her jewelry look.

I would make sure to look at them in person before buying, so the drop isn't to small or too dramatic, or there isn't an issue with the stone quality.

  • Rosie - I really did look back several pages, but couldn't find the thread I was looking for. If I come across it today, I will page you. I just can't remember who the designer/brand was but they were definitely Kate Middleton inspired earrings.

I read that. I plan on going to Macys and looking at them first. Then if they are crap I will order the ones from Tejani.. but they are smaller :(

  • Why don't you look on etsy?  I found mine in a bridal shop, but I think I need more pizzaz.  Mine don't have the middle part, just the single row tear drop.  But I don't want to spend a tonne of money on them either.

  • I found some awesome ones on Etsy but the seller is from Australia and it takes her 14 days to make the order and then another 14 to send it (or something like that) and I am cutting it too close :(

  • Rosie, I am wearing similar earrings to Kate's (had them commissioned to be made BEFORE the weddng!)

    Here's the etsy shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/LizardiBridal?ref=ss_profile

I don't know if she has some already made and could just send you some.  I had mine custom made and the lead time was 6-8 weeks (which I know that you don't have).  If you like mine, maybe I could put them in the mail for you.  You're a week after me, right? Need something borrowed?  :D   I'm May 21.

Look at these two pages. The second page has multiple earrings, and they are by Carolee. First page is a direct knockoff of Kate's earrings, but may be more than you want to pay.

    1. you don't sound like a "toolbag" just because you are wearing something similar to her earrings. they are nice earrings. As long as you aren't running around claiming to have the exact ones and ergo you are a princess, you're good.

    2. Your dress is beautiful. I want that much of a sweetheart neckline but my dress can't do it. sad.

    3. you don't NEED a neclace. are you wearing your hair up or down? Are you wearing a veil or a heaadpiece?
if your hair is down and/or you have a veil/headpiece, don't feel the need. You will have enough going on that you won't feel bare .

  • love the style of earrings Rosie, and I agree - no necklace!
