guest book and wishing tree

NOT a money tree....Wishing tree. In addition to a guest book I'll have a wishing tree that has small cards you can hang on the "tree" and write down words of love/good wishes. I'm going to get an album for them and use a picture of the tree in bloom as the cover picture. I'm writing Instructions for them but was wondering if I needed to have a guest book attendant to explain it.  I wasn’t going to do one before but My FMIL seems to think the wishing tree is weird and no one will understand it w/out someone to explain. Thoughts?   Also, if someone has done this before any tips on how to word the Instructions?

  • If it is at reception then have the dj announce it when everyone is getting done with dinner. We did a make a wish take a kiss jars. Put a wish to us in one jar and take a candy kiss from the other. No one was doing it and then the DJ announced it and it really filled up quickly.

  • So not wierd! I did this and it was great. I think i got the idea from a knottie. Our colors were eggplant and silver. My guests raved about it. My husband, my aunt and I did it ourselves. When we set up for the wedding the day before I just sat for a minute to admire it. The person we did our rentals from is a wedding planner, even though we did not use her services. She admitted she totally stole our idea and will use it in a future wedding. We added a little poem my husband wrote. Anyway my pictures are being wierd, can't link but if you want to see give me ur e-mail and I'll be happy to send it to you.
  • I agree with PP. Have the bridal party do it too, and then point other people towards it.
