How much am I supposed to be paying an officiant? He does not work as a pastor in a church, he is just ordained and is close with my aunt who asked him if he would conduct our ceremony after we were turned down from two other ministers for living in sin (which really grated on my nerves because a. it's the 21st century and b. economically it makes more sense to live with FI and share expenses and c. we have been dating for over 6 years, but I digress) We wrote our own ceremony so he didn't have to do any of that and there's no counseling that he is having to commit time to. He is attending the rehearsal and luncheon the day before the wedding though. Is 200 enough would you think? I hate this whole "ministers can't request payment" thing. It would be very helpful if they had a flat rate like all the other vendors
