My last few purses have all come from Kohls, so I guess that's no help since you've already looked there...  If you're broke, don't go to Coach.

I have a small black purse from Target about 5 or 6 years ago that I still use and is in good condition.  My other most-used purse is a white one from Target.  They seem to last awhile.

for the longest time I used a WWII Swedish Gas Mask bag as a purse. now I just have a nice black leather one from Spring shoes (aka Aldo). not much of a purse person.

Coach is really played out.Just get a good quality, non-designer leather bag that will last.

dani - you can get some good deals at the outlets.  Maybe not super cheap, but sometimes at least 50% off the regular price.

The Marshall's near me always has Hobo, which makes awesome leather handbags, and they're ridiculously discounted at Marshall's. I got a $350+ bag for $70 a couple of weeks ago.

I agree that Target usually has cute purses.I think NY&CO purses are too overpriced for what they are.  Mine have always fallen apart pretty quickly.

I have a couple from Aldo.  I like them.  They're durable and cheap.  The ones I have are at least 2 years.  I haven't bought a handbag in that long.  Holy crap.  That long!  I hate this whole saving money thing

I really, really love my purse.  It's from Wilson's Leather outlet.  It's lasted 3 years so far and I think it's great.

I love Target for cute cheap purses. Nine West also has some great clearance prices and outlet prices.

I love Kathy Van Zeeland! She's "designer", but you can usually find her bags at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and sometimes Ross for 50-100.

Check your local vintage/antique shops too. You can find some AWESOME vintage bags for little $$ The one I carry most often cost me $7. It's from the 50s and I get more compliments on it than any $400 bag I have.

I have found for every cheap bag I bought that lasted a few months, i could have bought any designer bag that I wanted with the money I wasted and I'd still have it.The logo crap at Coach is played out, but the leather bags from there are classic.

FI got me a MICHE bag last year.  I love it! It is a perfect size and is wasy to change out the covers to match with what I wearing.  You can switch straps short or long and the covers are magnetic....many colors and styles to choose from

mckee - funny story:  I used to drive through an industrial area to get to a theater that I performed at on Long Island.  I always saw this cute pink sign for Kathy, but had no idea what it was for.  This was also about 5 years ago, and I had never seen her bags in the store.  Now they're all over, even in Arkansas!

The only non designer bag I have is from Urban Outfitters. I love it. I need to start looking there more. I also carry some vintage bags. My daughter gets really cute purses at Target.

All of my best purses are from coach, for the most part.The one I have now is from Lane Bryant. It's not bad, but I have no intentions of using it after summer.
