STD Ideas

Hey!! Hope all are having a wonderful Monday :)So my FI and I were thinking about sending out "Engagement announcements / STDs" (a couple months from now as we've got a year until the wedding) but we're trying to pull together ideas that are DIY and not a budget breaker.Our most liked idea so far has been "STD frig magnets"We're looking at about 100 or so and I've found a couple of websites that offer pretty good deals, but I wanted to see if anyone else was doing this idea or if anyone had any suggestions as to where to get something like this on a decent budget price. Our second idea would be through "Smencils" because it would be more fun than anything, but we're still unsure of this one. WTH is a smencil? If you can't afford STD's don't do them. They end up in the trash anyways.

I don't think you could get all the info you need to fit on a pencil.

smencil = pencil that smells.  One of my kids gave me a chocolate scented one at the end of the year.

The least expensive but good quality way to go is Vistaprint.  After you sign up on the website, you'll get e-mails for tons of free stuff.  I got 100 free postcards so I made our STDs there and ordered envelopes to put them in.  The quality was great and they were practically free.  I had to Google Smencil to see what it was - scented pencil for those of you too lazy to look - and I wouldn't go that route.  It would get used or tossed in a drawer or pen cup and people would lose the info.  At least with a postcard or fridge magnet, people will stick it up on their fridge as a reminder.

You could fit it all on a smencil  if you use the abbreviation STD. But then people might think you guys have the herp.

H and I wrote on our foreheads.... He had "We're getting married! Save the date 5/22/09...."Then I had "Or we wrote on our faces for nothing!"And then we took a picture and were going to make them into postcards.

We did fridge magnets attached to postcards.  PIB.I like getting the magnet ones.  I'd probably lose a pencil within a few days.

Frig = fridge   sorry ladies. . my dog was going crazy and I didnt proof my post Smencils ... it was more of a "different approach" but yeah, we're 90% not going that route, just thought I'd see what the opinions were. I'll def. look into vistaprint! We also agree that with the fridge magnet, at least (assuming people put it on their fridge) they wouldn't be able to say they didnt "see" it. Thanks again

We did Vistaprint postcards and I was very happy with them.  $7 for 100 of them and shipping was cheaper than regular cards.

I used vistaprint as well and was very happy. We got postcards for very, very cheap. Designed them ourselves. One thing to look out for is the check-out process; take a look at what you do and don't have checked off. It's not a bad thing or a reason not to use Vistaprint, but every now and then a bride comes on here complaining because she wasn't paying 100% attention when she checked out and accidentally signed up for something that she was being charged for, so just a heads up!
