IUDs

Anyone have one? I talked to my doctor about them today and they seem pretty awesome, but I'm a bit afraid of the pain and concerned about any complications... anyone have experience? TIA

I personally do not... however my best friend does have an iud and she loves it... its alot easier for her specifically to not have to worry about taken bc everyday. the only complication she has had however is it shifted one time and it was very painful.... she had to go to the gyno to have it removed and a new one put in... If I could I would totally do it... just waiting for the day when I have a baby and its an option for me

I have one, got it about a month after baby was born. I have had no pain or discomfort. Don't know if your doc mentioned it but my midwife asked if i had a heavy flow to begin with (I didn't) after the IUD and my period finally did come back (7 months post baby) it was heavier, significantly. Now that I've been dieting it has gone down. I do plan on going in soon to have removed for number 2...

I've had the Mirena IUD for over a year and I'm really happy with it. It was painful to have inserted, but the pain only lasts a few seconds with cramps afterward. Just take two or four ibuprofen about 30 minutes before you have it inserted and you'll be okay. My periods have pretty much gone away completely which is awesome.

I have one and love it. BTW - I haven't had a baby before, it's not necessary in order to get them. I believe it just makes it harder to insert.No complications, other than the cramping Dani mentioned.
