Tips about tips

Hi Ladies! It's pretty early for me, but I'm planning ahead. I'm trying to find out how much you tip for each of these people (is it a dollar amount, or a percentage also).Photographer (owns his own business)Photographer's AssistantDJ (owns his own business)DJ's AssistantFloristOrganist (just for ceremony, runs her own business)Vocalist (just for ceremony, runs her own business)Thanks so much in advance!!

Re: Tips about tips

  • I've always read on here that if they own their own business you don't need to tip (or not tip as much, but I could be wrong) since not tipping seems odd.
  • The general guideline is that if the vendor working with you is the owner and the money you are paying is going directly to them, no additional tip is necessary.  Otherwise, use your regular tipping guidelines - 15-20% based on quality of service.  Also make sure the vendor doesn't already have gratuity added into the contract.  Most caterers/reception venues will do that.
