Re: STARVING!!

  • How about don't starve yourself? Eat filling foods - veggies, high protein/low fat foods, fruit. Don't eat unless you're hungry. Drink lots of water.
  • A cheeseburger isn't super bad for you, just take off half the bun and use lowfat cheese like laughing cow lite or something. Also, almonds and fruit on top of some greek yogurt is always good when I want to feel like I can eat something "bad"
  • How many calories are you eating each day? Starving yourself is going to backfire.

You do realize that if you starve the weight off, it will come back and then some when you finally start eating normally again.

  • You have to eat to lose weight.  Your metabolism will work you just have to eat the right foods.
  • Go find vegan and gluten free foods.  That'll cure your appetite.Personally, I've gone ahead and joined Weight watchers.  It's working really well for me.

  • Promise I am not literally starving myself I have blood sugar issues tho and even when I dont want to eat I have to very frustrating. I would be fine if I could stay away from cars and beer!! (only drink water exception of adult bevs)
  • Uh, so eat a cheeseburger.Extra lean ground beef: 120 caloriesSlice of cheese: 80 caloriesArnold sandwich thin bun: 100 calories300 calories.  No big deal.Starving yourself is the worst idea on the planet.  No woman should eat fewer than 1500 calories/day, IMO, and more if you're exercising at all.

  • WW is a great program!

  • Are you at work? A small cheeseburger from McD's isn't so bad.

  • ricksang, I'm curious as to why you think WW is so great.  (Seriously--not being critical--just wondering.)Maybe it's changed, but last time I looked at it, you could basically eat 1200 calories of Oreos and still be within your "points" for the day.  That doesn't thrill me.  It seems to only advocate calorie counting and not so much general nutrition.

  • I like healthy foods I am just a busy girl and dont stock enough. What will stick with you. I love a banana with natural peanut butter yumm getting burnt out tho. Also breakfast ideas?
  • I would be fine if I could stay away from cars and beer!! huh?
  •  Yes I is working :( I got a happy meal with apple dippers yay me
  • Kashi bars are good...also Special K strawberry bars only have 90 calories.
  • If you boil a bunch of eggs on sunday night you can eat those for breakfast all week. Look for cereals with lots of protein and fiber and not a lot of sugar (read the labels). Also, sprouted wheat bread is my friend.
  • Too funny cubsgirl.. The beer wouldn't be as bad if I didn't start munching on chips or left over pizza when I am drinking them. FI is a bad influence!!
  • Oatmeal (the real stove top kind) with fruit is a great, filling breakfast.
  • Love the special k bars!
  • . What will stick with you. I love a banana with natural peanut butter yumm getting burnt out tho. Also breakfast ideas? Please tell me you're eating more than a banana with PB for breakfast.  That's not enough.  Breakfast ideas:Eggs or egg whites with cheese, spinach and toastSteel cut oatmeal with PBKashi GoLean with skim/soy milk and protein powderProtein pancakes (google the recipe, there's a ton out there)Fruit with yogurt and granolaIn my experience, the key to being satiated by food is to get a good balance of protein/healthy fat/carbs.  If I eat too many carbs, I am starving.  I try to stick to a 40-30-30 split of carbs protein and fat to stay full.

  • Brie - I also really like WW. Sure, you could eat all of your points on Oreos, but you would really not be doing it right. It allows me to eat things i like and crave, but in a healthy way. I never feel deprived when i'm on it and it works. I also really enjoy some of their recipes!

  • I am addicted to Frosted Shredded Wheat as a snack. I always keep a container in my bag, it's super filling and sweet too, also high in fiber. Um, yeah, I still don't get the whole car and beer thing, I think I am having coprehension issues today.
  • Brie, not everyone can eat clean like you and I. (You eat clean, I think?) WW is a better program than say atkins or the cookie diet (eyeroll). It offers a better range of food choices and a lot of them are quick and easy. It is not THE BEST diet for your body but it great for women who are on the go and such. I have known several woman that have lost weight with WW and maintained. Of course ,I would much rather see someone eat a low glycemic diet but not everyone wants to do that.

  • A mindset that helps me a lot when dieting is to *add* foods, not take them away.  So I'll make myself eat 5 servings of veggies and a bunch of lean protein every day, and I'll be full from that, so the other stuff won't tempt me as much.
  • Kashi bars are good...also Special K strawberry bars only have 90 calories.Special K bars are pretty nutritionally vacant.  Sure, they only have 90 calories, but they have a ton of sugar and virtually no protein or fiber.  And they contain some pretty questionable ingredients, like partially hydrogenated oils.  For 90 calories, you're better off eating an apple, which has fiber and vitamins and no strange chemicals.

  • Fair enough, ricksang and mofongo.  I just have seen some people, like my sister, pervert WW into "eat one meal a day of ice cream and pizza" and lose a ton weight and then promptly put it back on because they don't understand moderation. The cookie diet makes me so effing mad.  I think if I were to advocate for any sort of "program" it'd be maybe South Beach or The Zone.  Both seem pretty reasonable to me.

  • WW is not just about points.  You have certain other things they want you to achieve.  I cant remember what they are called but basically its: a certain amount of watera daily multivitamina certain number of fruits and veggiessomething like 2 tablespoons of oiland some other stuff too. WW teaches you how to eat healthy and in the right portions.  It is a wonderful program.
  • You could put that PB and banana in between two pieces of whole wheat bread and call in breakfast. I have found eating more protein and less carbs for breakfast fills me up longer until lunch time. You could try a six egg white omelet with low fat cheese and veggies with a morning star breakfast pattie and a slice of whole wheat bread. I try to stick to a 50/30/20 diet when I am trying to slim up a bit. The key is to eat a big breakfast 30 min w/i the time you wake up.
