Anna, since I passed my last dress fitting, I've been taste testing "specialty" cupcakes here in DC.  If you are going t oopen a cupcake shop and charge $3.50+ per cupcake, please make sure they are good. Funky flavors does not make a good cupcake.

C.S.:  i know how that goes.  I had quite a few sociology classes that made me want to punch someone.  My favorite was when the stereotypical hick in the class, decided to announce that homosexuality was the most disgusting thing ever and followed that statement with pro-beastiality sentiments.

Sociology and social issues classes always have a love/hate relationship with me.  Very enlightening and thought provoking, but daamn it pissed me off when closed minded people started spouting off crap like that.

Well yesterday I had a red velvet cupcake and tonight I had a coffee flavored cupcake with toffee icing.  The two bakeries had many, many flavors like key lime, bubble gum, birthday cake, straberry shortcake etc.  The flavors are fine, but the cupcakes themselves have been bleh.  I have gotten better cupcakes from the grocery store for 1/4 of the price.

Excellent!  It's not even like I'm some sort of cake/cupcake efficinado (sp?), but dang at least try to live up to the hype.  If those shops cakes are like the cupcakes, I'd be mighty pizzed to pay $40 - $60 for a 6" round cake.

cake is my favorite food.  I get pissed when people don't do it right. With the exception of small children trying to bake, there is NO excuse for dry, gritty, bland cupcakes.

anna, as soon as you are able to send cupcakes to california i'm all over it. i love cupcakes & am a honest critic. there's a new cupcake place opening here & she came by my work & dropped off free ones to sample, sad to say i don't think she will last a year w/ her grotesque frosting.
