Holy crap.

I just found out that someone I used to work with died.  She's young.  I didn't know her well, at least not outside of work, and I only worked with her for 8 months, but it's really weird.  Really, really weird, and really, really awful.  I'm not really sure how to feel.

Re: Holy crap.

  • I'm sorry to hear about that! Was there an accident or was she sick?
  • Sorry to hear that. I always find that sort of thing disorienting.
  • You do not have to feel any certain way at all. Feelings are individual and you always get to feel however you feel. How you act matters more. Send a condolance card at eth eleast. If local and easy to do drop by the wake if they are having one.
  • It's a hell of a blow.  I remember how confused I felt when I started seeing the names of old schoolmates showing up on the Iraq fatalities list.
  • I know she had some health issues--her heart, I believe.  They're not sure what happened, they're doing an autopsy today I guess.  She was only in her early 30s.  Ugh.

  • I just found out that a co-worker died yesterday too. I only knew her from work, but it was still unexpected. It's strange because it's not a situation where you're really going to break down and cry, but it's still kind of shocking. Just kind of reminded me that we're all human I guess...

I hate finding out stuff like this. I know exactly the weird feeling you are talking about. I'm sorry to hear about this girl. :-( So sad.

  • My little brother got a call from one of his good friend's mom - kid jumped out of their 25th floor apartment window into the courtyard.  He was barely 21.  It was the third of his friends to die within 6 years (2 suicides, one auto accident).  It's always hard when that kind of stuff happens to someone so young.
