the best wedding planning book to use?

I do love this site, but I'd really like to have a physical book to use. I have most of my wedding planned but I need something to help me organize and keep things in perspective to what I'd like to acheive. There are so many books; I just need some good recommendations. The last thing I want to do is waste money!

Re: the best wedding planning book to use?

  • You have most of your wedding planned and it's over two years away?Did you just get engaged?  If so, wait.  I got 3 wedding organizers as engagement gifts.  If not, go to Office Max and get a 3 ring binder with dividers.  It's the cheapest and easiest way to go.Also, you should change your username.  You'll get spammed like crazy if you use your e-mail address.

I just got an accordion folder with 12 pockets from Staples. It helped me to organize my ideas, inspiration pictures, receipts, contracts, guest list and RSVP cards, etc. It was really useful and very cheap. I think I paid $4 total for it and it was a lifesaver.

  • The wedding planning book I bought was completely and utterly useless. It was actually borderline comical.Just get a binder, dividers, and folders from office max for all your paper documents & contracts. You can find answers to all of your questions online, and most people just use excel to organize their guestlists and such. I loved www.weddingwire.com for the guestlist, seating chart, and gift tracking.

  • IMO planning books are a waste of money. Get a binder and plastic sleeves to keep your documents/pictures in order www.weddingwire.com has several tools (guest list organizer, seating chart, budgeter, checklist) that is free and user friendly.

  • i repurposed a manila envelope from work, crossed out what was on it and wrote "wedding" and carried it around for a year.
  • ditto on the binder.  Very important to get the dividers, though.  I didn't and my stuff is all mixed up.  I went to Kmart today and bought dividers and a three hole punch.  *sigh* 6 months of planning and I'm just now doing this.   Anyway, don't waste your money on a fancy book.  Use your binder and the knot's tools.  Happy planning!
  • I have most of it planned in my head is what I meant to say! I am glad to see the 3-ring binder is the best way to keep it all together. I won't even need to buy one! The date is far off but we are paying for nearly the entire wedding so we need time to save, and I need time to do the DIY decor. Thanks everyone!
