Sorry it's long: toasts?

I already posted this on my club board Stupid question but how to do you ask people if they are wanting to do a toast? If I just ask them, "hey you wanna do a toast" that opens it up for them to say yes. I will split them up if there are too many, half at the reception, the other half at the RD. How many toasts are you having? Should I just write a mass email to my bms? We have a lot of people already saying that they're interested in giving one.My dad will probably say somethingHis dad will probably say something (FILS are not hosting RD)best manmaid of honor Then we have a gm who makes a song for every friend who gets married...he makes fun of the groom.Another gm is bringing a jacket that fi tried to throw away when he was in college....teachers used to think fi was color blind one of my bm has mentioned it, but I know hers will be filled with sap and tears. I did one at hers because I was the moh. It would better if she did hers at the RD.So if I made my bm and the gm with the jacket go at the RD, would that be condensed enough?

Tim and I thought only the MOH and the BMan would make a toast, but it ended up being another BM and two more GM's for a total of 5; two toasts were less than 30 seconds. My mother wanted to say something, but she decided not to because of the 5 toasts. Basically, we didn't designate it and it turned out fine, I think all 5 toasts took less than 7 minutes. *Would they be okay making a toast at the RD? If it were me, I'd want to make the toast at the wedding.

Miss Sarah, I am not sure if they would. I know that groom wants the jacket at the wedding. But I am really not looking forward to my friend's sentimental words. I will already have cried a lot that day and don't want to be crying post ceremony. And I know the song will be at least 2 minutes long. Would people hate it if these were cut into two groups? Pre and post dinner?

Could you have the sentimental ones at the end, maybe right before or after cake cutting? All of our toasts were humorous, except for my sister/MOH, but hers was cut to 1 min because she was crying.So let me think this through, you have1. your dad2. his dad3. best man4. MOH5. gm song6. gm jacket7. bm sappyIf I were you, I'd start with best man, MOH, and jacket. Then food, the song guy to kind of move into the music/dancing time. Before cake cutting, sappy bm, then right after cake cutting, as it's being served, the two dads. That does seem a bit heavy though.

It's so much toast! lol, and I know how people get restless when people go on and on....and inside jokes are a no no with me because half the guests wouldn't get them anyway!

Yeah, inside jokes aren't great. Humor is awesome though. The best toast we had:Tim, Sarah, I need to you two to do exactly as I say. Sarah, please place your right hand on the table. Now Tim place your left hand on top of Sarah's. I want everyone to witness this. This is the very last time that Tim will have the upper hand. It was short and hilarious. It was the last toast.

At my niece's wedding my BIL made the first speech.  Then the MOG spoke.  Then the MOH.  Then the BM.  Then every freakin' GM and then every freakin' BM.  By the time the first GM started, everyone had turned back to their tables and were chatting again.  I know it was rude, but honestly.  How much can you stand to listen to?At DDs wedding two weeks ago, the only people who spoke were MOH and BM.  It was perfect.I'd do the song, the jacket, and the bridesmaid at the RD if you must have them.Nothing stops a wedding reception like extensive speeches filled with inside jokes and stories that much of the crowd is not privy to.
