"Funny" story

Fi's sister was married on July 4th- I talked to her today for the first time since their honeymoon. The night of their wedding they had quite the late-night after party at their farm (drinking and a campfire). While she was chatting with friends outside her DH decided to check out what was in all the envelopes. He removed envelopes from all the gifts and brought them outside for her to open with himShe now has no idea who gave which gifts. In his excitement/drunken haze he even opened cards and removed $$ and gift cards and can't remember who gave what amounts. She is MAD and making him help with all the thank you notes!

Re: "Funny" story

  • oh thats too funny......
  • That is really crappy, but I thought you were going to say he burned all the money in the campfire! So after expecting that I think this situation is better. Good luck to them.

  • apple_green I thought the same thing. I was imagining a drunken slip and the whole pile into the fire or something so this is much better! So did he just bring out the money or did he remove all the cards from packages for every single gift?

  • Mybe they could just put "thank you for sharing our special day with us and we appreciate the gift you gave us bla blah blah..." or something like that.  I now know to keep the fi away from any cards
  • A lot of registries are able to track who purchased what - can she see if that would help at all (or make her DH call to see if they can pull the info)? I would be furious...It's a good lesson for your FI now. I bet he won't make the same mistake.
