we are serving wine and beer at our wedding. we already know what kinda beer we are serving. but i am not a wine drinker. does anyone have any suggestions on some good tasting but reasonably priced wines? i was thinking the arbor mist varieties but not everyone drinks them. i dont wanna use boxed wines.

I don't think Arbor Mist is even technically wine.  Beringer wines are decent but not that expensive.

Ack, no, please don't serve Arbor Mist.  It is not wine!  Try Fetzer, Beringer, Clos du Bois or Penfolds.

arbor mist is not wine it is big wine coolers. They are awful. Much much worse them box wines (  some like black box merlot and barefoot pinot grigo are decent Whats your price per bottle idea?

Do you have a Trader Joe's in your area? If so, the Charles Shaw is great and it's about $4 a bottle.

And what's wrong with box wine? Do you know what you want at all? White? Red? Rose? Imported? Local? Bold? Dry? What food are you serving and we can go from there.

you'd be much better off serving boxed wine than Arbor Mist.  It's not real wine. Ditto on the Trader Joe's Charles Shaw.  You can get a case for $38

Arbour Mist is not wine.  It's pissss.  We did 2 different types of red (shiraz and merlot) and two whites (chardonay and pinot grigio).

Yellow Tail makes great wines, about $8.99 a bottle.  i'm in love with (and may possibly be having a relationship with) their Pinot Grigio.

Boxed wine is actually starting to grow in the wedding industry.  I haven't looked into it too much, but some pretty big wineries are offering their wines in boxes.  Purists always entertain me.  My family loves their Arbor Mist and while I don't buy it for myself, I do enjoy it from time to time.  I suspect it's much more enjoyable than pisss, but I have no experience with that   I wouldn't expect pisss to be quite so sweet ;)There are a lot of great Australian and South African wines, but honestly when it comes to wine it's all in the taster.  I'd go for a light white - Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, etc.  For a red, I'm partial to Shiraz, but it's often too spicy for people.  Zinfandel can be a nice compromise on that and is slightly less spicy.  White Zins are often frowned upon by the purists again, but they really do have their place, although they are often too sweet to accompany a meal.

I'm defintitely not much of a wine snob.  Never had boxed wine so I cannot speak for it.  I will drink any wine as long as there's no sediment in it.  But, yeah, Arbour mist - not wine.  I drank too much of that stuff when I was in highschool.  It was the cause of many  hang overs.  My sister and my mama love it.  Maybe you can offer it as well as "normal" wine that us "purists" enjoy.

It makes me happy that people suggested Two Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's!  It's honestly your best bet for a decent wine at a really great price.    Good luck!

Yes moose you are correct it is a form of wine.  So are wine coolers.  All I was saying is I am not a wine snob by any means and even I don't consider it wine.  Even my sister and mama who drink it don't call it wine.  They call it juice.  Not trying to argue with you here moose, we're all friends here :P  If I went to a wedding where all that was served was beer and arbour mist, I would be a little disappointed.  In fact I did go to a wedding where they did this.  NOt the end of the world, just disappointing.
