What email service do you use?

Apparently my new last name and first name are fairly popular and I can't find a professional sounding email address with the providers I use (gmail and yahoo).I wouldn't mind paying a small fee, but would prefer a free email service.Anyone have another service they would recommend?

  • I've tried _ and . both between first and last nameTried my middle initalEven tried Jen instead of Jennifer with all the combinations...coming up with nothing.FI suggested adding a number to the end of it, but that doesn't seem as professional to me.

  • I have a yahoo account. When I changed my name, I had to add numbers to my new account, which I don't love, but I hardly ever use my personal account anyway.

  • Mrs vogt, what about last name first? Vogt_Jen@ ______.com?
  • j.smith?smithj?I love gmail, so while I was still debating on the name change, I saved up all the emails I could with my name.
  • I'll have to check out hotmail, I'd forgotten about them. The only reason I care what it looks like is because it's used for my side business (which makes me sound like an internet hooker or something) and I"m currently applying for jobs, so it will go on my resume after I'm married.

  • I see you've already resolved it, but I was going to see if you had any credentials or degrees that you could tack on there.  one of mine is allmyinitials.rhit@____.com. If you have an MBA or a business specific credential or something, that could be useful.
  • That's a good idea maggy! I don't unfortunately, and probably wouldn't since my full time job and side business are completely different industries. Still a really good idea though and thanks for throwing it out there!

  • I'm newly a Jones and found it difficult, but I finally got jones.firstMI.  I had also made another one, but decided to go with this one.  Try being creative...even though you got the 09 one, since they're free, try some others!

  • Crap. Too bad you already figured it out. My old email (with hotmail) is nickname-lastname@hotmail so I was thinking you could do jen-vogt@hotmail
  • gmail put a . between your first and last name, add middle name or initial, only use your first initial with last name, etc. there are lots of options

  • Oh and I don't recommend using any pseudo free email like comcast or verizon.  You should be able to have the same email address regardless of who your internet provider is.  FILs moved a few days ago and FMIL's verizon email address is currently out of service for the move, which is totally ridic.

  • See above Karen. Tried a bunch, didn't work.Good point, Sucrets. I'll keep looking. The main reason I wanted something today was for a photosharing account - my current email is already the user id on that site for my personal albums. Thanks!
