Re: Cuteness

  • Aw so cute!!  FI loves german shepherds, and I'm a big fan of australian shepherds, so who knows what we'll find, when it's time.  Of course we'll adopt, so we'll see what comes along!Jill, I can see that.  I don't know too many guys that are clean freaks, that's refreshing!  But girls DO like guys with dogs, so perhaps he's missing out!

J&K - I love German Shepherds too. They are so sweet. :) My neighbors have 2 Aussie Shepherds and they are just sweethearts. Love their eyes! And I love labs and Huskies too! Actually, I don't dislike any breed of dog. They're all good in my book!

  • gg, I heard you have to train aussies well right away or they'll try to herd you!  I picture a puppy trying to herd Minka around.  It's not pretty lol

  • I felt like such an awful pet parent. We adopted him from the same shelter a year ago. They told us he was 6 months old...the vet said he was 3. He was the SWEETEST dog, but shed so much, and refused to be potty trained. FI's mom ended up taking him for a while, when FI moved back into a dorm room for his last semester at school, but she moved to Oregon, we moved to Missouri, and no one else wanted him. Poor baby.
  • Awww :(  Poor guy!

My neighbors must have trained them well because they've never tried to herd me. :)

  • Jill, that is sad- did he respond at all to puppy kindy (or whatever you call it over there for the puppy training classes)? Dogs are so cute but I am quite happy with my little furry felines- who are also quite adorable! And hehe, yes, blue heelers and kelpies are very well known for rounding up anything that moves. They will 'round up' cars, people, whatever! They are very easily trained though, from what I've heard.
  • Sun, we tried training too. I've had dogs all my life, so potty training should have been easy. FI's uncle breeds German Shorthairs for show, and he even tried to train him. I think it was his age more than anything-he'd been at the shelter since he was a puppy, and had gotten used to just being able to go when and where he pleased (and on a hard surface). We'd take him on really long walks, he wouldn't do anything, but the minute we were home, he'd run to the basement and go on the floor.
