I apologize - one more invite question

Is 5pm afternoon or evening for the wording?  Or do I just say at 5pm.  I know everyone hates invite questions.

Re: I apologize - one more invite question

  • I think the general consensus on one of these questions awhile back was afternoon, though I always thought 5 pm was the start of evening.

  • just say five o'clock

  • When you go to restaurants, generally they stop serving lunch at 3pm, so I would assume that anything onward would be considered evening.
  • I got conflicting answers on this here, and ended up putting afternoon for my wording. When I took it to Crane & Co they said it should be evening, my mother the etiquette nazi agreed.

It depends who you ask. I say evening, but others say afternoon.

  • I believe 6pm is the technical start of evening. But what happens in daylight savings?!??Ditto whit, you don't need to write anything...people will know it's not 5am.

  • for our 3pm ceremony, we just put "at three o'clock" -- you can do the same, people won't think your wedding is at 5am.
  • Just say five o'clock.  It's a given that it would be pm, because it surely wouldn't be am.
