flowers

is anyone doing thier own bouquets and/or centerpieces? do you think it is worth it? do you save a lot of money? where do you get the flowers? the bouquets seem easy to do but i am not sure about the centerpieces. i don't want anything that will look cheap or homemade.

Re: flowers

 • I've found the centerpieces (for what I'm doing) are easier than the bouquet. A hand tied bouquet will take a lot of practice. Particularly if you're doing mixed flowers or mixed colours. I was planning to get my flowers at Costco, but their quality has concerned me a lot lately. I may order through a florist because I don't need enough flowers. A lot of people order through fifty flowers.TideTravel did her own flowers for her wedding.

 • I am making my own bouqets. My cousin works at a flower shop so she's getting them all wholesale (saving lots there) and we will put them together. I actually started out through a florist and had to cut back in budget so we decided to do our own bouquets and it has saved a ton.
 • We are doing our own centerpieces by ordering flowers through www.fiftyflowers.com and the vases through www.save-on.crafts.com. Both are wholesalers that discount by bulk. Both sites also have a great selection. With what you save, you cannot go wrong. However, you may need a cooler, if you're going to do your own flowers; you want them to stay fresh. I hope the resources are helpful. Good luck! • I'm doing 1/2 of our centerpieces using tall cylindar vases and branches from Ikea.
 • We did our own flowers and it was definitely worth it. Since we didn't have much experience with flowers, we kept the designs simple so things wouldn't look too cheap. In our case it saved us a lot of money; all of our flower arrangements cost us in the neighborhood of 300 total, including vases and supplies. But it will depend on the kinds of flowers you are using. We used hydrangeas because they were in season, cost effective and very full, which reduced our workload.Flowers are kind of a big project though and doing them yourself can get stressful as you get closer to the wedding. We had a family friend volunteer to make our centerpieces and bouquets the way we wanted, which was a huge help. We did have an early morning wedding though which made it harder.
