Flower girl alternatives! Help!

Hi!  I am getting married in April.  I have two flower girls.  My daughter who is 8 and my niece who is 3.  My daughter will be carrying a sign that says" here comes the bride" but I can't figure out what to do with my niece.  Flower basket with petals isnt an option because my venue doesn't allow the petals to be thrown.  Any ideas would be wonderful! TIA!

Re: Flower girl alternatives! Help!

  • I'd lose the sign.  Kids carrying signs at their parents' weddings just doesn't work for me.

But flower girls don't have to throw petals.
  • What about a pomander?

    Looks something like this: clicky

  • they could both hold the sign or she could hold another sign saying last chance to run.

Cliche, and not really funny at that. I think trying to be "clever", "cute," or "funny" with ball-and-chain stuff at weddings cheapens what the event is supposed to be about.
  • My florist suggested a flower girl "wand." You can make one yourself or have a florist make it. It's like a princess wand, but with flowers and ribbon on it.
  • I like the pomanders.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • The pomanders are cute!  The "here comes the bride" sign is also cute... not something that I would choose, but if you like it, go for it.  I don't like the ones that say 'last chance to run".

This or TXKristan's baskets would be nice.
  • We couldn't toss things either, so the girls carried little mini bouquets.  The looked just like the bridal bouquet, only much smaller and the white flowers were daisies instead of hydrangeas. I actually thought about using the sign too, and then I saw how totally overdone it is at weddings these days.

Here is a picture of one of our girls, and one of the ring bearers. She was less than thrilled to stand next to him for photos.

  • i Love the flower ball/mini bouquet idea. The sign is a cute touch IMO. I'm not into the 'last chance to run' idea though.

  • We decided on the Pomanders!  They are super cute!  Thanks guys!
  • My flower girl (my daughter) is carrying a mini bouquet of mine.  We also have matching yellow shoes.  Just us.  It's kind of our little thing. I have flower petals that will line the aisle, but my daughter didn't want a basket, so we didn't do one :)
