( OT) bharatanatyam arangetram

My Fiance and I have been invited to a  bharatanatyam arangetram ( it is a Indian dance recital)  I am cuious if anyone has been to one.  I would like to know what to wear.  Should I wear a long dress or shorter ( around the knees) Do I need to cover shoulders or anything like that.  I do not want to offend anyone and I am not versed on the culture.  It is a Sat from 2-7     TIAPS I really want to wear my knee length  strapless black with white4 polka dots dress with matchng heals but think it is not apropiate

I know there is a dance recital that's a big deal and it might be somewhat formal.  As pp said, the South Asian board should be able to help.  I believe South Asian culture varies somewhat based on where the family is from, religion and ethnic group - so you may or may not need to give them that info.
