***Bri2010***

In case I forget, or in case you don't get on here, I wanted to wish you and FI the best of luck on your Law Boards.  My daughter went to law school in New York but then returned to Florida for a job so she had to learn all the FL  law on her own.  I remember a very stressful summer!Side story:  When she took the boards it was 3 hours away from where we live so she didn't come home after the first night.  I vividly recall her walking in the house after the second day of testing....her eyes were scarlet red....it looked like she was possessed!  She passed on some of the instructions they were given, "If the person sitting next to you passes out and falls out of their seat, just ignore them, we'll get around to picking them up, just keep working."  Yeah, fun ;-)Of course she said that was nothing compared to the day the results were posted and she had to scroll through the long list seeing "failed" next to so many names before she came to her own.  Luckily she passed but now she and her DH may be moving out of state within the next year or two....looks like she'll be studying again for the Law Boards!

  • Thanks!  We're in the home stretch and just ready for it to be over with at this point.Yeah, that's the problem--it's hard to move from state to state if you're an attorney.  We are planning on moving back to Chicago after FI's clerkship is done, so we'll either have to retake the entire bar exam, wait 5 years until we can waive in, or transfer our multiple choice scores now and take the essay portion in February.  It's definitely a pain!  We went to law school in a different state from where we're taking the bar, so that's been a challenge, too.

  • Illinois allows you to use your MBE score for 2 years, so all you would need to take is the essay part.  Not that you want to think about any portion of a second bar exam right now, but just a little FYI.  Good luck!
