A brideless shower

So, apparently my aunt has decided to have a shower in my home town without me being there. I thought it had been decided that there would be no shower, and that we would come home for the holidays (after the wedding) and they would have a party then. But my mom emailed me yesterday and said that my aunt wanted to have a shower on Aug 3 (a week from now) and mom was wondering if I was going to be at home that night so I could call on the phone and talk to everyone. I was like "Huh??" I told her I didn't like the idea, but she said my aunt wanted to do it and she didn't want to tell her no. So then I said okay, maybe I can mail you my extra webcam and mike, and I can skype in, but the date would have to be pushed back. But apparently she already sent the invites. So, she sent the invites before my mom even asked me if I was available to call in. They basically planned a bridal shower with the bride as a second thought, LOL! They did this for my brother's wedding, too. What is up with my family?

  • My inlaws did this for me knowing that I couldn't be there, but at least they told me in advance!  DH said that they were using it an excuse to get together and have lunch.
