One of my sister's decided that she couldn't be in the wedding because she doesn't agree with my decision to exclude our father from my life because he's an abusive, nasty, piece of schit.  Funny how I've never given her any crap about maintaining a relationship with him, and yet, I'm discovered to be a horrible person for protecting my emotional well-being by cutting him out.  Huh.  Who knew.

Thanks all.  I'm feeling pretty depressed right now.  Can't decide if it's a good or bad thing that all the stores are closed right now and I can't go buy a bottle of wine! ha.It's definitely how I started the day Ang.  It's only 2:30 here.

Sorry, Amoro. But good for you for standing your ground. I think too many people give in to others in situations like these because it's "such a special day". You are clearly making the right decision.

Yeah, I'm not one of those people Pirata.  I'm not going to tell her she can't attend because I'll look like a bad guy.  She can show up if she wants, but she better bring me a hella gift, that's for sure.  And, if I didn't invite her still, my grandparents would be destroyed.  I don't want to do that to them.

Oh yeah, I'd still let her come too, if she wants.  That's her decision to make, and quite frankly, if she doesn't come, it's really her that looks like a jerk.  It's her loss not being a bigger part of your day.

Oh Amoro, that stinks.  My sister and I went through a similar situation and she said she wasn't going to be in the wedding.  We ended up talking about it and we both agreed that we are just so different that we have never seen eye-to-eye.  We ended up working it out and now we are really trying to work on having a good relationship with each other.  I really hope that you and your sister can work through this.  Good for you for sticking to your guns about your father though!!

Dukey, this was her response to my trying to work it out.  Somehow, I don't think it's going to happen.Bec, don't think I wasn't tempted.  But then I thought about my grandparents, and how devastated they would be, and that stopped me.

Good for you for not giving in. She has no right to say who can and can't be in your wedding. It's her loss that she'll regret one day. Sorry you're going through this.

I congratulate both you and your sister for standing up for what you view as right for yourselves. you are standing by your principles to exclude him and she is standing by hers to support him. Without knowing a lot more then I know now I am proud that both of you are taking a principle based position
