Poll: Your go-to...

Re: Poll: Your go-to...

  • Mandy - what is in said fattening sauce? I've never had a pierogi in sauce before. Mind you, my mom's family is VERY polish, and before I met Mark, I had never had a deep fried pierogi either. If you consider 1 lb of butter for 1 lb of pierogies sauce...then maybe I've had sauce with my pierogies.

  • -in large saucepan or frying pan cook up some bacon bits, throw some diced onion in.  -drain some of the bacon grease, but leave about a tablespoon.-cook your perogies in boiling water (i buy frozen cheemos)-add 500mL of whipping cream (i use half and half) and a few heaping tablespoons of sourcream to your bacon/grease/onion mixture.-bring to almost a boil.-add your (previously boiled- cooked) perogies to it. eat.  seriously.  heaven.  i make them probably twice a year because i need to avoid things like this.  the minute i say to mike, "i'm thinking of making perogies this week."  he responds, "REALLY?  CAN WE HAVE THEM TONIGHT!?"best with cheddar perogies though.

  • Shelly, I like how you think!
  • Not sure why 2 icings came up, but I like that even better!
  • Unhealthy stuff. If I'm in a bad mood, I eat mozzarella carozza and penne vodka.
  • Sounds heavenly (aside from the Cheemo pierogi part)! Mark always wants fried onions and bacon with his...I like mine plain with a wee bit of butter and salt...and sour cream sometimes. I'll have to try it though...sounds so good.

  • Yeah I love homemade perogies.  I need to be taught how to make them.  I think they're one of those things that you can't learn from a cookbook.  You need a ukrainian to show you... They really are heavenly goodness.  I also season with seasoning salt and lots of salt and pepper.  Also, the sour cream is approximate.  Make sure you can taste it in the sauce...

mmmm ditto on the mashed potatoes, ditto on the animal crackers/icing, but it has to be cream cheese icing, grilled cheese and tomato soup, but my all time favorite go to is the phish food ice cream. Delish.
