I thought it was called the swine flu because it passes easily between humans and pigs.  Some workers on a farm in Canada actually transmitted the virus to the pigs, if I recall correctly.

I don't know moose, I Googled it earlier and it said that it rarely passes from pigs to humans but they thought this newest outbreak did, then tested it and found that it actually didn't.  That's when they encouraged calling it H1N1 instead of swine flu.
