  • OMG how redic.  They should have set the bar at the figures as they were when the bill was passed.  They really should have foreseen this problem.  Go figure.
  • And everyone knows that the EPA ratings are NOT reliable already.  This only affirms it when ratings on old cars change YEARS later.
  • I call stupid on the dealerships. They were advised not to hand out money they didn't have. If they gave 4500 to someone a month ago they should have to eat it. The government warned that things could change

  • By 'recycle' they mean destroy. FI is a car mechanic, and he has to drain the oil out and put some chemical crap in its place and KILL the engine. He said its kinda hard, his job is to save cars. I couldn't do it. One of his co-workers is turning in his car that he was obsessive about taking good care of, and now has to destroy it. They are going to make the co-worker do it, 'cause they are evil. Essentially, they are taking perfectly good cars off the road and trashing them.

  • I agree that it's the dealerships' problem. They shouldn't have been making the deals before the plan went into effect. Of course, the requirements shouldn't have been changed, or at least those that have been done should still be honored. But the dealerships should never have made the deals.

Well that really sucks for people who have already gotten new cars or who were looking forward to it. Yikes.

  • I don't see how the dealerships can ask for the cars back. Its their problem for selling them with the discount. stupid.

  • The issue is that it also doesn't really "help" the environment either. You're right, it had little thought put into it.  My husband is a mechanical engineer and he's finding issues all over the place with it.  I can only imagine what issues others can find as well.
