I know you all like shopping and this Saturday, Hautelook is donating a portion of their sales to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.  As a lot of you know, I am in remission from ovarian cancer for the second time.  Just thought I would share since some of you go on there daily.

thanks for the heads up.I have been trying to stay away from all shopping sites for a bit but now I'm tempted

I figured it is for a good cause.  I always wondered, if you shop and the proceeds go to charity, can you claim it on your taxes?

hahaI'll have to run that one by my accountant but I doubt it

You can claim anything you give above fair market value.  So if you pay $25 for a $15 shirt you can claim the $10.

It's tough to claim things on taxes without getting a value of the "donation" piece. If a receipt could be printed for the item you purchased, plus the "donation" amount, then yes, you absolutely could claim it.Ever go to a charity dinner? They should be sending you letters that serve as receipts for your "donation" to the cause, rather than you claiming the entire price of the ticket. Same basic idea. Hope that helps, E
