Wedding gift for FI

Do you see your wedding gift for your fiance as a future heirloom or more of a fun gift he'd really like? My parents got each other watches which I thought was nice. My dad wears his everyday. I kind of suggested this to fi and he didn't seem super enthused. I know he'd enjoy a 'fun' gift like say golf clubs, but I see those as somewhat disposable and not really something you treasure and keep for years. So thoughts ladies.. get him something fun or should I do something he'll keep always like a watch? Right now I'm leaning towards doing b-pics for our 1st anniversary. I'm so busy with the wedding coming up and I think it's a cool idea to use that for "paper".

We did something fun but memorable. He got me a set of mini chairs from the place we met (they're a special kind of chair unique to this place).

I think if a watch is going to sit in it's box and not get used, then you'd be better off getting him golf clubs. But if you're going to want him to keep them for awhile, they'd have to be pretty good quality clubs, which could be spendy (and hard to buy if he's not there to be fitted for them). I haven't decided what I'm getting FI yet, but was thinking of a watch.

We didn't "officially" give each other wedding gifts - just exchanged cards. IMO get what will be enjoyed most, even if its a disposable gift.

I got FI a set of custom cufflinks. They're maps, one of where we went to school, one of where i studied in Italy and he came to visit. I think things that are more personal and thoughtful make more sense for a wedding gift. Otherwise I could get him like a video game or new workout clothes.

I am getting cuff links and golf clubs so I guess I am doing heirloom and fun I also love the idea of b-pics for 1st anniversary, that is what I am doing

I got him an autographed picture of Wrigley Field during the Winter Classic.  We were at the game and FI's a huge Hawks fan.  It's signed by a player whose autograph he didn't have at the time I bought it.

Personally, I love gifts that can be passed on. I am getting FI a pocketwatch, despite the fact that we all use cellphones to check the time. He likes the idea too, and we'll be giving the groomsmen pocketwatches as well.

I struggled with this for awhile b/c normally I get FI electronic things but for the wedding I didn't want to get him something he'd be replacing in just a few years.  And I just bought him a watch a couple months ago. I just ordered him this 25th anniversary lomography camera.  He's been getting into photography and when I saw that they just came out with an anniversary edition I figured that was cool and special and yada yada.  It was more than I planned on spending so he better love it!  I also got him some kermit the frog cufflinks from an etsy seller to wear the day of the wedding.

I got J a watch but it's what he wanted. It's a Boston Redsox watch - really nice. PIB.

I will be getting FI a custom made pair of cufflinks. HIs mother passed away when he was nine and his step mother just last september, so one will have a picture of his mother and the other a picture of his step motheri thought this would be a nice way to keep them close to him during the ceremony. he is looking for a way to do it but doesnt want it to be a flashy way ! They are pretty affordable to .. 50 at the most i think ?

We've actually discussed if were going to do those and we're prob just going to do cards and then we're going to go in together and buy tickets to a new york giants game at their field. we're both huge fans and REALLY REALLY REALLY want to go to a game at their home field so this is what we decided
