Our mortgage commitment came in today and we close on our first house on August 17!I am so scared in the meantime, I don't want anything to go wrong.  I don't see why it would.  It's a short sale so the sellers REALLY need to get this house off their hands.Any advice to get through the next 11 days without completely freaking out?

haha!  that's so awesome though.  go look at furniture, paint samples, curtains, etc.  whatever you do, do NOT go to the nest unless you need decorating ideas.

CS, I would cry my face off.  I've only been married just over a month!  Besides, I was given STRICT orders by my mother that I cannot conceive a child until after my sister's wedding, as to not steal her spotlight.  No joke.   She's getting married in December 2010.

That's awesome! Honestly, I would do non house related things, like the sex and doughnuts, because if anything does go wrong you don't want to be completely emerged in decorating mode when it happens.

First off, congrats! FI and I closed on our house in June! Second, just a word of advice, don't pick paint colors quickly, take time to think about it. FI and I painted the kitchen cabinets a week after closing, and now I am second-guessing myself.  Third, ENJOY IT!  Think of decorating for holidays and the like!  Just don't think of what could go wrong!

When I bought my house I didn't know I had to have a home owner's insurance policy before settlement.  If you have that taken care of, sex and donuts sound great.

Congrats!!! Me and the FI closed in April. I would recommend having your favorite beer and donuts ready in case anything should go wrong. I also agree with the "do NOT go to the nest yet" response. they are nice over there, but i was paranoid over the closing more so than I should have.

Congrats!  It's an exciting time!Don't go make any big purchases before you close, like appliances or cars or anything.  Don't go buy new furniture or anything for the house, but do start packing and maybe window shopping for things you'll need or want.  Don't freak out!  Closing is a breeze, it's just signing your name a million times and that's about it.
