  • well, a pocket square is generally worn in addition to a bout. 'Cause of it going in the pocket, and all, as opposed to being on a lapel. But: If your guy doesn't want to wear flowers, he should either 1) just not wear one - no one will care, and if he is wearing something different from his groomsmen, it's likely no one will even notice or 2) you could just get him one made from the greens (ivy, kale, etc.) that may be included in your bouquet. HTH!
  • If he's not into floral but wants something different here are non floral ideas.

  • Pocket square instead of flowers is perfectly fine. Although the other ideas were pretty rad too.

  • At my DD's wedding, the guys had pocket squares rather than bouts and most of them thanked the bride and groom for not having them wear flowers.  The groom had a white square and the gm had a colored square.
  • Does he like the pocket squares?  I think that both a pocket square and a boutonniere looks too busy.
  • I always liked the look of a contrasting color pocket square. I've also seen ones with monograms. They look sharp as well.

  • Our guys are wearing pockets squares. Flowers on them would just look silly.

  • At DD's wedding, the guys wore pocket squares instead of bouts, and they were all happy to be flowerless.  They looked sharp too.
