Re: Veil Poll

  • Forgot to add its outdoors on the beach, beach and veil don't mix Are you kidding me? Clearly you have never been on the Destination Wedding board or looked at any of their wedding photos.

  • After I got engaged my sister sailed to Southport, NC and bought a 1950s pillbox hat with a birdcage veil that I had tried on months earlier in an antique shop. Now that my dress is different, I'm not sure the hat will work, but I'm taking the veil off and attaching it to a pretty comb and wearing that. I think. I'm so freakin tired of wedding decisions I may just throw the hat and all on the day of and be done with it. At least I won't need to fix my hair. :)
  • actually I didn't wear a bra either.  My DD's stayed put all night. I got married at a somewhat wind point of the beach.  So a veil really would have gotten in the way.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I think a feather fascinator with a little bit of netting will be the closest thing I will have to a veil. I gotta consult with my hairdresser first.

  • I won't be wearing one.  I really like how they look and there are some really beautiful one's out there (like lpstl's), but it's just not for me.
  • Oh my gosh Lynda - I am totally cracking up over here.

  • yes, salt and he was dead serious!he said it looked like it would burn quickly and go straight to my head?he is very protective of my big head.
  • Well, I wore a long veil on the beach WITH tiki torches present, and not one michael jackson incident. I marked that a win in my book.

  • I'm wearing a veil when I run a half-marathon with some friends the morning of the wedding, but not wearing one for the actual wedding.
  • Yes, I'll be wearing a veil - fingertip length. What is it going to get in the way of?

  • Bears, Vogt. Everyone knows that veils attract bears.

  • Depending on how you wear the veil, I imagine it could get in the way while you eat dinner. If it's on the back of your head, not so much, but if it's toward the front on the top I could see the possibility. I had originally planned on not wearing a veil because I thought it would be inappropriate (this isn't my first marriage), but I tried one on and thought it added a lot to the overall look and the moms (my mom and his mom) were both mortified that I wasn't planning on it, so I figured what the hell... let's wear a veil. I'm not going to cover my face since that *is* probably pushing it a little, but if I still get crap from anyone about how veils are strictly the prerogative of first time brides, I'll politely tell them to shove it.
