first dance song

Re: first dance song

  • We are definately doing a rock song!!!Well it is a very sultry and slow song by a rock group.  We are dancing to "Dance with You" by Live.We are both huge fans of Live and saw them together at least 3 times and my heart melted everytime this song was performed and it is so deep and meaningful.
  • Our first dance song is "Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Bob Marley. We both love his music, and swe want our whole wedding to be relaxed and romantic. =)
  • We're doing Brad Paisley's "Then." FI and I picked it out separately and have been in love it with ever since. The lyrics ring so true to our lives. Also, the guitarist in our band for the wedding has his guitars made by the guy who makes Brad Paisley's. So, it's kind of significant in multiple ways.
  • "I Was Made For You" by Brandi Carlise. The first time I heard it, I thought of him and cried. It was no question.
  • "Then" by Brad Paisley The song is totally us!!!
  • Our two choices are "If I Ain't Got You" - Alicia Keys (I like)or"Whatever It Is" - Zac Brown Band (He picked)
  • My Husband and I danced to Sade - By Your Side.  It is a beautiful song and he and I dance to it all the time.
  • We are danceng to "your my best friend" bu queen. We picked it because we've been together for so long and it describes us so perfectly!

  • Everytime I Close My Eyes by Babyface and halfway through the song, my husband sang My Girl by The Temptations
  • We are dancing to Far Away by Nickelback.  It has been 'our song' since we started dating.  We have known each other for 12 years and secretly been in love with the other for close to that, even his mom told me years ago that i was perfect for him and that we needed to be together.A while back we were have communication issues.  After all was worked out he played Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts for me, he said it was how he felt about us.  It made me cry.We will dance to that song later in the day. Some other ideas we tossed around that we will play later in the day...Follow You Follow Me - GenesisTrue - Spandau BalletIn Your Eyes - Peter GabrielLoving You Is All I Know - PretendersAmazed - LonestarWhich ever song you decide on I'm sure it will be the right one.
  • "Something" by The Beatles. Just a classic slow song that has beautiful lyrics.
  • "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz...I'm not one to be super serious with stuff and the song is light, short and fun which is good for FI since he hates being the center of attention and hates dancing! =)
  • omg--I used to LOVE that song when it first came out of Jason's mouth YEARS ago---but the industry sold it platninum and now it isn't as cool as it used to be.... so sad :o(the original version is MUCH better too....lmk if you want me send you the old school vers. ;oP

  • We are dancing to "All or Nothing" by Thoery of a Dead Man. A total rock song, but we love the words and its really us.Do what is right for you both!
  • We are using "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain, its always been our song. To me it is so beautiful and timeless. I love the lines "I'll be your crying shoulder" and "I'll be better when I'm older".
  • if you want to still be somewhat modern but not go the rock route...ours is "let it be me" by ray lamontagne. it's soulful but not too sexy and i picked it because it's very realistic. it's not fluffy and lovey dovey. it's about how the future will be challenging but the song basically says "let it be me that gets you through". hope this helps! another good one is "they bring me to you" by joshua radin, that's what i'm walking down the aisle to :)
  • Bryter Layter, Nick Drake
    Photobucket PitaPata Dog tickers
  • "This Kind of Love" by Sister Hazel.  The lyrics are beautiful.
  • I have no idea. Songs that are in the running: "Everyone calls you Amazing" I think this is a Martina McBride song. "Lets stay together" Al Green "Come Away With me" Nora Jones
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • "Faithfully" by Journey. It's more of a joke than anything, but FI and I have bonded over Journey through the years, and I can't imagine having any other song!
  • We are going to dance to "Forever" by Ben Harper. The lyrics are beautiful and pefect for representing a marriage. We were going to dance to "Better Together" by Jack Johnson. That has been our song, but EVERYONE even his cousin just used it!!! I like "Forever" now better anyways!
  • So do rock if that is what you want, I think people are so stuck on what is expected of them or what people think. But in reality I think your guests would be excited if you did a rock song, as they would be able to say its totally you! We are doing Halo by Beyonce! So love it, it speaks to our relationship! (although NOT a fan of Singles Ladies - so played out, but then again I dont like the bouquet toss anyway - may do anniversary dance) I read some of the other responses and I saw you were thinking of having your wedding party dance. I think that would be great - I am thinking of doing something like that, but as a separate dance. You could also start the song as part of your entrance and then go into the dance that way it would be the same song, but different parts of the reception, so it wouldnt feel like you were listening to the same song for 9 minutes.
  • Our's is going to be "For Once in My Life" by Stevie. I have always loved that song and my FI got sold once he realized that is Ari and Mrs. Ari's song in Entourage after watching a few reruns, which is hysterical, because that isn't exactly who I want to model my marriage after, but I still love the song. LOVE THE SONG! I think you should do what you want. See if your dj can help with finding or making the perfect arrangement. I love weddings that are really personal and full of personal touches!
  • "And Then He Kissed Me" by the Ronettes. We both wanted a song that was upbeat and not terribly traditional and cheesy.
  • only you can love me this way- by keith urban.  We don't really have a "song".  the first time i heard it i got so excited I absolutely love it.  Find it very fitting!

  • Amazed by Lonestar. for two reasons, it was the first song we ever danced to together, and shortly after he told me he loved me he started sending me text messages with the lyrics in them. It has been our song ever since.
  • Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliat...b/c its not too sappy or long....
  • "You are the Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne.  It was "Everything" by Michael Buble, but I had a friend use it for her wedding, and it kinda lost its flavor with us.  So Ray it is.  We both wanted an upbeat, different song.  :)  I love the horns and fanfaire in the song.
  • KRHagen- that was what i wanted to dance to! the first time i heard it, it made me think of my FI SO MUCH. he went along with it for awhile, then decided it was too slow (he doesn't get the concept of a first dance). then we went back to so, we went with Lucky by Jason Mraz. its the perfect tempo to set the mood for a fun, upbeat evening, and it definitely speaks to our relationship. qwerty777- i also wanted to dance to So Close at one point, but was afraid i could never match amy adam's moves, so we vetoed that! it would be so fun to learn that dance though!
trying times are not the times to stop trying. image

  • We're actually dancing to NEM too! FI is a HUGE Metallica fan (we're going to see them in October), and he said as little as he thought about his wedding growing up it's the one thing he HAS thought about. We like the words a lot.I think we will have the DJ work it to where it starts playing when we're announced since the intro is a minute long..by the time we get to the dance floor the actual song will be starting. It IS a long song, but it's just a few moments of the whole day that you can spend just holding each other, so enjoy it! GL!
