Veil opinions...since it's slow

I can't decide if I want to go with a full-length cathedral veil or a shorter one.  Opinions and words of wisdom appreciated. This is my dress with a chapel length veil.  I realized after seeing this picture that it cuts my dress funny in the back, but envision it a little longer and that's what I'd get:This is the fingertip veil my mom is pushing for.  I hate it because I think it's too poufy and I'm not crazy about the crystal detailing.  Everyone else in the store loved it.  Am I on crack? This is the same veil, with one of the two tiers lifted up so it's more sheer and less poufy, which I like better:I never thought I'd want a cathedral veil, but they look gorgeous in photos, and, well, we're getting married in a big cathedral.  The fingertip doesn't really feel like what I want, but I was the only person who didn't love it, so I feel like a jerk.  Opinions?

Re: Veil opinions...since it's slow

• I like the fingertip veil!
• I love the chapel length and I think it looks best with your dress.

• I like the last picture the best.
Oh no we dropped the groom!! imagePlanning Bio UPDATED
• I prefer fingertip but agree about the poufiness, would you consider a one-layered fingertip one?  I think the cathedral length tends to hide the back detailing on dresses.
• Ah crap, I meant I like the chapel-length, but I think cathedral would look best with your dress. I always get the 2 confused!

• Both are nice, but I think I like the sheerness and length of the first one. It's also more dramatic, but like you said, you're getting married in a cathedral. Your dress has such beautiful detailing in the back, so either way, definitely a veil that only has one layer, so you can still see your dress!
• You can get a one-layer fingertip length veil...I did, PIB. I've always been so anti-cathedral length veils, but I think it's mainly because I'm a walking accident and there's no way I'd not catch it on something and take myself out. Just from what you've said, you clearly want the cathedral length veil, so do it! It will work with your dress. Maybe consider a shorter veil for the reception or no veil?
• If I went with fingertip, I'd most likely do single-layer.  The double layer I really didn't like, but everyone else did.I kind of hate the concept of a cathedral veil, since they are such a PITA from what I've heard.  But, we're getting married in a huge cathedral in the evening, and I'm planning on only wearing it for the ceremony anyway, so I think it might be appropriate.  And I have been seeing way too many gorgeous cathedral veil pics on here lately, which I think is making me jealous.ggmae, I liked the chapel veil a lot from the front, but it hit me at the ankles and cut the dress off funny.  You can see it better in the pics in my bio--that's why I'd go cathedral, so it would be the length of my train or longer.

• I also like the finger-tip one best...I do not think the veil is too poofy at all. But, if you aren't crazy about it, it looks great as a one layer as well.
• Well to me the obvious choice is the cathedral length veil since it would look great with your dress and it's obviously the one you love the most!  Who cares what strangers in a bridal shop think?  You're the one that has to wear it on your wedding day, so pick the one you love the most.

• Nicole, your veil is really pretty.  I think I'm fighting the cathedral thing because I always said I'd never have one...and oops, now I kinda want it.  (But I was that way about lace dresses, too.  Whoops.)Also, I love your sig pic.  So cute!

• Brie - I'm not sure if you saw the response after my original response, but I corrected myself and said that it'd look better with cathedral length. The chapel looks awkward because it doesn't hit to floor.

• I like the first one the most.
• Why don't you get a chapel length veil that doesn't have such a stark edge? Have it kind of V in the back instead of a straight line. That would soften up that edge a bit so you wouldn't notice the end of it.
• Good point, danieliza.  I tend to second guess my fashion-related decisions, especially when other people are saying the opposite.  I should say that these pics are from two different trips to the bridal store--so the people who saw the fingertip didn't see any of the longer veils on me.

• I like the concept of the chapel or cathedral length, but I don't care for the one in the picture.  Maybe it's just that particular veil?

• Thanks :) and I say screw what other people want. The lady at the bridal shop said she liked the one dress better on me, when it clearly didn't look better. Why? Because she was there to get rid of the dress that she'd had for longer. I guess that doesn't apply to the people that know you, but they aren't the ones wearing it. You are. Wear what you love.
• Yeah, J&K, that one was nice from the front, but when I saw the pictures at home I was like, wow, that does not end at a good place on my dress.

• Oh god! The single fingertip veil without the top layer is ABSOLUTELY stunning. So beautiful! Are you getting married in a church? I could probably picture the long cathedral length better in a church, but I LOVE that fingertip veil. Beautiful!

• Alright, well I have to vote for the cathedral length because frankly, I LOVE how it looks, especially in a big church.  PIB of mine :)
• Shannonalise, we're getting married in a really huge and beautiful cathedral, so a cathedral veil would definitely fit right in.  PIB.amandasw, I think I saw those pics yesterday when I was looking at your bio and that was part of my "hmmm...cathedral veil" thought process!

• Oops! Must have skimmed over that last paragraph thinking it part of your siggy. You are getting married in a cathedral. In that case, go with cathedral! Especially since you like it best! :)

• haha well thanks, I just added some more pics from the church in case you want to see (and bc I feel like AW a little more).but setting aside the fact that I loved my veil, I do think a long veil can compliment you dress well.  For one, it adds a nice line all the way down as opposed to cutting you off.  Also, I don't think it's true that a single layer veil hides the dress at all.  And finally, you do get fun pictures!
• I vote cathedral length (or a chapel length with a different hem, like someone else suggested).  I think that your face in the mirror in the last picture answers your question :) You do not look happy in that one. Actually you have a "why the eff am I letting them talk me into this" look on your face.  The single layer fingertip is pretty, but I say get what you want, not your mom or the store ladies.

• I assume you want a veil to begin with?  Because there's so much pretty detail on the back of your dress that it would be very pretty without a veil too.

• I like the fingertip with one layer instead of two.
• Haha, good point, tlv.  I didn't even notice that.J&K, I do want to do a veil for the ceremony.  I have a fascinator for the reception, though.

• I figured as much, but I thought I'd throw it out there.  I know my mother was in shock when I told her I didn't think I wanted a veil.  I think it'll be very pretty on you, but I'm glad you're taking it off for the reception so everyone can see the pretty back of your dress!

• Of course, I started this whole process saying, "no veil, no train, no beading, no lace."  And now I have beading, and lace, and a train, and a veil.  Heh.
