ceremony?

We are trying to figure out where to have our ceremony. We have narrowed it down to the church (with a 4 hour gap), the beach, or our reception location. Would you have your ceremony here? Be honest.http://s523.photobucket.com/albums/w357/mvercio/?action=view&current=untitled-1.jpghttp://s523.photobucket.com/albums/w357/mvercio/?action=view&current=4.jpghttp://s523.photobucket.com/albums/w357/mvercio/?action=view&current=3.jpg

Re: ceremony?

• if you are Catholic, it will have to be the church. the gap sucks but if you truly cant change the reception location to accomodate the ceremony time, and you refuse to have a morning wedding, then you have no choice.otherwise, fi there are no religious restrictions, i'd go with teh beach since that's what i would have done had it been an option.
• What the crap are people going to do for 4 hours?
• the catholic church doesn't recognize a civil ceremony as a marriage but i guess they just have to bless our marriage later like Dani said. i can't find anywhere else to get married in my area. i have been looking for a nice garden or a gazebo. i haven't found anywhere that i love yet. its the most stressful part of planning so far!
• It was the most stressful part of planning for me too. Have you posted on your local board to see where other brides in your area are getting or got married?

• we can just get married in the church later. it really doesn't matter until we want to have a child christened. this has been explained to OP on the catholic board, the process of a convalidation. they dont do tehm just so she can have a pretty beach wedding.
• This is me on my third marriage. It was on a beach and we loved it! :)
• i was never on the catholic board before. i didn't even know there was one.obviously i wouldn't go in and say i wanted a beach wedding and now i want you to bless it. i don't think i will have a problem with convalidation. thanks though.
• I know this will come out wrong and I really hope I dont offend anyone. That being said....did you say that was a picture of you on your 3rd marriage? Does the Catholic church recognize more then 1 marriage? I am not catholic, so I don't know really....
• well, the priest will ask you during hte process why you werent married in teh church teh first time. what are you going to tell him? also, you sitll need to do pre cana and marriage prep, just as if you were doing it that way the first time. its not that simple.
• beach bride, there's two pipers on here... a bit confusing.
• beach-- that was the other Piper. she said she was on the beach and i don't even know if she is catholic. i think you got us confused.
• my uncle is a deacon and although he doesn't want me to have a civil ceremony first he said that i will not have a problem getting it blessed. he could even do it for me. that is really not even a factor in my decision.
• Dani-- where did you end up having your ceremony? i took your advice and posted on my local board.
• Piper62-why so many pic posts in response to questions? While some are funny, others are, well...

• oh wow! I didn't realize there were 2 different people...thanks for the clarification. I retract my statement then!
• PiperS - our reception venue had a huge outdoor terrace that overlooked the grounds and trees and a little pond. So we had our ceremony there and then the guests went right inside to the cocktail hour while we did pictures outside. That's why for you, if the three options really are your only ones and the venue says they can accomodate your guest list on that terrace, I would probably go with it. It will be so much easier for you and all of your guests. You can always just make sure your photographer knows to take the photos from an angle that doesn't show the cars. If my only choices were a beach or the terrace you posted, I think I would pick the terrace just because it seems easier all the way around and it's right there at your reception venue.

• You can absolutely have a formal beach wedding - long dresses and tuxes.
