Back pain. Help?

I think I pinched a nerve in my back last night.  It's certainly nothing as serious as a pulled back muscle (which I've done before and it hurt like a mother), and it doesn't feel serious enough to see a doctor, but I'm not going to lie it hurts pretty bad any time I move.  Just enough to be really super annoying.a) Any idea what it could be other than a pinched nerve? WebMD isn't helping me much.b) Any home remedies to make me feel better? I took ibuprofen and have a heating pad on it that I'm alternating on and off, and I guess it's helping a little bit, but man it's sore.

Re: Back pain. Help?

  • could be a muscle spasm.  try taking a hot bath or shower to loosen up, then do some stretching.
  • I'm sorry about your back and don't have any advice for you, other than what you're already doing. But I did want to say I just saw your new house sig picture and the house is so cute!  I love it.  I assume your offer was accepted and the October 15th date is the close date?  How exciting!

  • If that's what it is, it'll eventually go away on it's own.  If it doesn't, you should see a doctor because something else is wrong.  There's not much more you can do, that I know of.

  • You may want to try a combination of ibuprofen and Tylenol because they work pretty well together.  Also, maybe alternating heat and cold might help?  BTW, take everything I say with a grain of salt because I am NOT a doctor.  If it doesn't improve in a couple days, see a doctor.
  • Thanks dani! Yep they accepted it.  I'm calling right now to set up an inspection for this week. I'm nervous. It's 82 years old. And thanks for all of the advice! I guess I'll just stick with the heating pad for now.  I'm super happy I'm not working today.
