Frozen dinners

So, they aren't so bad when you put lots of real cheese on them.  Kinda defeats the purpose, but oh well.

Re: Frozen dinners

  • Yeah, whit.  I like the WW ones, but I usually buy the Michelina's ones because they're the cheapest.  The veggie lasagna isn't too bad, but it's in dire need of more shredded cheese and ricotta.

  • Not a fan of the michelina's usually, but I know what you mean about cheapest. I buy the Healthy Choice, our grocer sells then 10 for $20.

  • I like the Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers.  They're yummy.
  • Dude, some one needs to sue half these companies for making a product that looks nothing at all like the picture on the box.
  • navy - I don't eat meat, so that limits my choices.  :(

  • The steamers are good, I think the marinara one doesn't have any meat.

  • I'm pretty sure the marinara one has chunks of chicken.
  • i'm a vegetarian too - i stand by bertolli's shrimp, penne and asaragus. unless you don't do shrimp...
  • sucrets, I'm a veggie too, and I love WW SmartOnes Three Cheese Ziti, and Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli.
  • Lean cuisines butternut squash is my favorite. Also, the one in the red box (what is that brand?? simple something?) sante fe rice and beans is amazing
  • Ditto the three cheese ziti, it's one of my faves. And I can't remember if you do beans, but the santa fe style rice and beans is great too.

  • I have actually yet to meet a frozen dinner I enjoy. I find them all super salty, and generally yucky (maybe we just have bad frozen dinners in Canada). I prefer to make a batch of casserole or pasta, then I put a portion size in a container, and freeze it. Accomplishes the same thing really. (I do like frozen meat pies though...mmmm...)
He pretty much had me at "hello".
-- PS I agree with whatever Jeana said --
  • I have to ditto shanwalk on the bertollis one, incredible!! I dont like most frozen dinners, but the new lean cuisine ones are good (spa cuisine - grilled chicken primavera) but need to be bigger.
  • nope, shan, I don't eat shrimp.  I agree that the WW 3 cheese ziti is amazing!  definitely my fave!  I'm just glad that I enjoy eating the same stuff all the time.

  • Stouffer's mac and cheese.  Not exactly healthy, but you don't need to add extra cheese to it.  Mmmm, it's the best.
  • The Kashi Mayan Harvest bake is awesome, plus it's vegetarian (it might even be vegan).  I recommend following the oven directions rather than using the microwave if you have time.  It's plantains, sweet potato, black beans, kale, pumpkin seeds, and a spicy sauce over 7 grain polenta.
  • The Lean Cuisine Mac & cheese is pretty good for a frozen meal... and it's actually filling.
  • The Lean Cuisine rigitoni and vegetables is pretty good, but I usually buy a string cheese and melt that on there too. Not so lean no more. And pretty much any ziti one is good. I've never met a ziti dinner I didn't like. I'd say of you explore each brand, you're bound to come across some you'll like, but if you have to have them all the time, no matter how you vary, they all start to taste the same. My FI and I do like some of the frozen ones they make, like skillet or oven meals... they have some really good ones. My thing is I do like those cheap pot pies or those cheap frozen pizzas you get for mad cheap. You know, the pepperoni are square and the crust is a fancy cracker? I gotta admit I like those things.
Night swimming in the ocean= pretty sweet reception!
