Tablecloth Decision

Trying to make a decision on tablecloths and I wanted to get some opinions.Option #1: Buy 90" ivory tablecloths from ebay for $78.  They will be brand new.  Option #2: Buy 120" ivory tablecloths from a local lady for $80.  They are used and she said a couple have some spots, but should come out with another washing.I am going to be putting overlays on the tables.

Re: Tablecloth Decision

  • Shipping is free. The 90" ones are lap length on my tables and the 120" would be floor length.
  • Yikes. What are you going to do with all of those after the wedding? Have you looked into renting at all, or are you somewhere where renting them is ridiculously expensive? If you're going to buy them, I'd probably get the new ones. At least that way if you decide to sell them, you can say "well, they've only been used once..." as opposed to the other ones.
  • I'm planning on selling them.  I can buy them for the exact same price I can rent them.
  • That's a tough call, actually. I was totally on board with the new ones, but the 120" ones might end up looking better. I see your dilemma! Are you able to go and have a peek at the tablecloths the local lady is selling? They might be okay, especially if you're putting overlays on them. Plus, then you can just sell them as "gently used" :)
  • I would definitely get a look at the spots before I bought them.  I can normally tell if I can get something out by looking at it.
  • Honestly, I'd rent 120" ones locally. If you buy them you'll have to store them before the wedding, then gather soiled and nasty tablecloths at the end of the night, then store gross tablecloths, then wash and press them (have you checked those costs?) and hope to sell them. Then you'll have to pack and ship them.Renting = they drop off, they pick up. Done.
  • I'd also rent 120" ones locally. But if you've really got it down to just option 1 or 2, I'd do 2 in a second. If you have overlays, you wouldn't be able to see any stains and I think floor length is significantly nicer than shorter.
  • I'm all for buying. It's the same price as renting AND you can get money back by re-selling. I've seen your great money-saving suggestions on the budget board so I know you don't mind the extra effort for a much better value in the long run. I'd go for 120" if the spots aren't bad, because I think floor length looks better. I ordered my tablecloths (120" included) from linentablecloth.com and got really great prices, $2/cloth cheaper than the cheapest rent quote I got locally. GL!
  • I would def go with renting and I work for a company that rents, our 120's are about 15 each to rent and you don't have to launder them after. 90's really arent as elegant for wedding tables. You can also try a mid size like a 108 or go to the floor with a 132.
  • Thanks ladies.  I definitely plan on buying.  It's ridiculous to rent for the same amount as I can buy.  I think we decided to go with the 120".  I'm going to check them out to make sure the spots aren't too bad though.
  • I'd go with the 120" ones assuming the spots aren't bad.  I think floor length is more elegant and I prefer the 'look' of them. GL!
