WTF does this mean?

So attended a wedding in June for FI's old friend who we see a few times a year...In the meantime invites have gone out for our wedding, this couple was invited, RSVP deadline was Tuesday.  I had not gotten an RSVP either way from them.Then yesterday I got a thank you in the mail from them reading: "Thanks for the generous wedding gift (blah blah blah)... Well, thanks again and we'll see you in October when you two are up". When you two are up? WTF? Are you coming to the wedding or not??? Not to mention that you could have stuck the damn response card in the stupid envelope.  Sorry, I guess this is more of a vent.  What do you make of it?

Maybe it got lost in the mail? I would call them and just ask, or is calling bad manners I wonder?

I don't know if I would take that as an RSVP. I think I would leave them on the tenative list.

It means they have still not RSVPed and you still have to call them to find out.

You'll feel better after calling and getting the answer. Honestly, if they just had a wedding and were writing thank you's, etc, they might have just been flaky and thought they already RSVPed.

Oh, they are getting a phone call here in a few days... I just can't believe that they wouldn't let me know, esp after just planning a wedding.  I didn't think about it having gotten lost... good point.

If they've missed the rsvp deadline you just need to call them and ask if they're coming, like you would for any other guest who missed the deadline.

I think it clearly sounds like they are coming.  They just had a wedding, now you "are up".. she said they would see you then.  I'd take that as a yes.  *Assuming your wedding is in October, she meant you.

Ditto Dani. My parents and I both RSVPd to the same wedding on different RSVP cards. My parents came back to us.  So, I called the bride to give her a heads up.  It happens.

It may have been lost in the mail-this happened to 4 of my rsvp's. I would just ask them.

Sounds to me like they did response to your RSVP by saying Well, thanks again and we'll see you in October when you two are up". Translation yes we will see you in Oct when it is time for your wedding.You can just drop a qick email and say you just wanted to make sure that you interperted their email correctly.
