I currently have a job in my chosen field (HR). I hate this job and dread going every day, but I'm paid very well, particularly in the non-profit world, and the job is secure. I also have to drive 70 miles to work each way (so 140 each day), and spend approximately $300/month on fuel. I'm seriously considering looking for job in the retail world. I have a ton of retail experience, and could be paid decently, I think (as I have been in the past). It wouldn't be near the amount I'm making now, but the potential for me to work closer to home is there (approx. 40 miles per day instead). One other thing - I plan to be a SAHM after FI and I have our first child, hopefully within in the next 18 months. So - what would you do?Give up the "career" in your field, for a "job" that might make you happier in the short run? Or, keep the career and suck up how much you hate it for a (relatively) short amount of time?
