NWR: Outward Bound?

Anyone ever participated in one of their wilderness excursions? DH is reading "Miracle in the Andes," a book about a Uruguayan rugby team whose plane crashed in said mountains in the early 70's. (You may have seen the movie "Alive" that was made about it.) Anyway, it got me to thinking about "getting back to nature" - although not to that extent; what those guys went through was horrible. But OB came to mind. We're big skiers, and I found an 8-day off piste (back country) ski trip that they're doing in February in CO - which happens to be right around our anniversary. I've never gone 8 days without running water, and I know that the physical challenge is incredible, but supposedly it's life changing. Has anyone had any experience with OB?

• Open them in paint and click "sketch/ skew" and change the percentages to either like 40/40 or 30/30 depending on size. Then resave
• Thanks, Roxy. I'll try that!
• I took a wilderness survival class.  We camped out in groups of two and cooked over a fire and had no running water for two nights.  I enjoyed it a lot.  The only downside was that my partner was German and spoke somewhat poor English, so it was a rather silent experience considering she was the only person I saw for two days.  But I guess that enhanced the experience with nature.
• Oh snap.  Apparently this is like a wilderness program your talking about.. ok my story is irrelevant, sorry :)
• Haha, DarkSideoftheMoon, it was still a good story... And the point was that you enjoyed the experience. Here's a link to the trip I want to take: http://www.outwardbound.org/index.cfm/do/exp.course_detail/courseID/118 What do you think?
• That looks really awesome for someone who doesn't mind the cold and is decent at skiing and snowboarding.  However, I qualify for neither of those, but if I did it would be awesome.  My FI and I want to do this rafting through the Grand Canyon thing.  It looks really cool.  You camp out in the Grand Canyon for a week with a guide and stuff.  He went a couple years ago and he said it was the best thing he ever did in his life.
• That sounds amazing, DarkSide. I did a rafting day trip in high school and really enjoyed it. A week in the Grand Canyon sounds like a blast. You two should definitely do that together.
• In high school I did a canoeing trip similar to this. I was in a group of about 15 other girls (it was through girl scouts). We canoed through the apostle islands in lake superior or 6 days. It was truly amazing experience. You do learn a lot about your own strength, and I really loved that our group was all females and that we had no contact with or help from males for that week. I say go for it!
