kitchen appliance color help

new house is gonna need a new dishwasher. so, time to make a commitment.color scheme will be yellow with green and brown accents - sort of a sunflower theme (i cringe using the word theme, but whatever).i plan to paint the cabinets an off-white color.i hate stainless steel.i'm leaning towards white or bisque. the cabinet color i have in mind is sort of in between white and bisque.what to do?

Re: kitchen appliance color help

• I really like crisp white in appliances. That's what I'd go with.

• I think it depends how big of a contrast there is between the cabinet color and the appliance color - Id take paint samples to compare against the appliances. Personally, unless you were using stark white somewhere else in the kitchen, id choose bisque for the appliances.
• I think I vote white, but I agree with taking paint samples to compare.

• I don't know how to make it clicky, but I like these... http://tinyurl.com/lwq9a5
• yeah, i'm not quite at the color chip phase yet. i'm thinking kind of a bone shade?sort of like this i guess...ignore the silliness of the cabinets themselves, just the closest i can find to the color i have in mind on a quick search.
• white

• I might change my vote then. You don't want your cabinets to look dingy if the appliances are bright white.

• ohhhh panda. dear panda. i have been drooling over big chill appliances for some time now. i would get those in a hot minute if they weren't too rich for my blood. le sigh, they're perfect.
• I might change my vote then. You don't want your cabinets to look dingy if the appliances are bright white. right, but then will the appliances look dingy next to the paler shaded cabinets?
• I love them, they totally fit my "I want to be a 1950s housewife" goal. But FI hates them, and prefers stainless steel (gag).
• I'm really not a fan of bisque appliances b/c I always feel like they look dingy. Would you consider doing the cabinets a darker shade or even yellow and then doing white appliances so there's enough of a contrast that nothing looks dingy?
• Possibly, but for some reason in my head, dingy appliances is better than dingy cabinets. Is there a reason the cabinets can't be painted or finished to match the appliances since you'll be buying at least the dish washer first?

• yeah, i don't know...i always just had that specific shade for the cabinets in mind for quite some time. a friend did hers that way and i thought it looked fantastic. i don't want to go stark white on the cabinets, but i don't want to go too yellow either. i didn't think i'd need to make an appliance decision this quickly. gah.
• I have a bisque/almond colored oven that looks so old and dingy compared to the soft white cabinets that I painted. I can't wait until it dies so we can replace it. I prefer stainless steel personally, but since you don't I'd get the paint color to match the appliances. Is it possible to paint appliances without it looking like crap? Might be an idea to make things match.
• I like white appliances because you can tell when they are clean. It drives me nuts when fridges or stoves are off-white because no matter how I scrub they never really look "clean" to me. Same thing happens with cars that are kind of off-white.I looked at one house without a stove, I loved that house...it had title issues :(
• I completely retract my first thought to go with white. I think I'd go with bisque appliances and then match your paint to it. You could always use great lighting to make it visually brighter if the shade you have in mind is lighter than bisque.

• Copper would be beautiful :)
• They do make copper appliances! http://tinyurl.com/3jqy77
• That link wasn't so helpful, you mean something like this with the copper? http://tinyurl.com/ll9d25
• sort of - i don't like the black trim on those particular ones, though.
• Or what about oil rubbed bronze? I have no idea how expensive they are but I saw them somewhere on HGTV before and they were beautiful. http://tinyurl.com/knv7vn

• Are you redoing the countertops or backsplash tiles? What color will the walls be? That would help determine the color of appliance that would look best.
• while searching for copper, i just found another picture of cabinet color i like (also like the hardware color here):
• tlv - are those the jenn-air? if so i believe they're quite expensive. nebb - yes. i'm entirely undecided on countertops. as for backsplash, i want to do a yellowish/greenish combo mosaic backsplash. something kind of like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bisazza/3438983616/
• I love mosaic tiles. I know it might sound strange, but what if you do a really stark white cabinet for up top, and an offwhite down below? It might work if you have both white and off white mingled in with the yellow, green and brown throughout the kitchen.
• it's an idea. hmm. and then maybe dark brown for countertops? i hadn't considered dark brown until just now. then i wonder what the heck to do with the floor.good thing i'll have until about the time we move out to have the money for all these updates. heh
• I'm not sure, I just found the picture without actually looking them up :) I really like those brown counter tops though! And the backsplash.

• Will you have an island in the kitchen? I know its pretty common to have the island cabinetry to be different from the rest of the kitchen, so thats always a possibility. Essentially, as long as you can tie it in (either off white or stark white) with something else in the kitchen, it will be fine, even if the cabinets and appliances dont match.
• I would do bisque. My aunt used that color in her kitchen. It looks really good.
