I realized while laying in bed last night that we never got a thank-you gift for the pastor that did our premarital counseling.  There wasn't a charge, as we're already paying to have our wedding at the church.She's the wife of the current pastor of our church (two pastor family!), and they're moving to ROMANIA in 3 days.What to do?  Give cash now?  Send something to Romania later?  Hmm, that could be fun- a little US care package.

Get her something now - but something they can use before they go. Maybe a gift certificate to a nice restaurant to eat a last meal at?

What about a book on Romania or set in Romania and a Visa gift card that they can use for any last minute things they need?

Hmmm, not sure what good places in the neighborhood do gift certificates, will have to research that... As for books, they already have waaaaaaay too many.  We helped them do their yard sale, believe me when I say they have enough "stuff" to last a lifetime.  I want to give a gift that will be used!

I would send them a care package in a month or so. There are a lot of American food items they won't be able to get over there, or that will be very overpriced if available in a specialty store. A few things that I missed when I lived in Europe: Hersey's Kisses, real maple syrup, BBQ sauce, peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies, Frosted Mini Wheats, and mixes: brownies, blueberry muffins, rice dishes, pancakes, and cakes (don't forget the icings...) Oh, and Thanksgiving's coming up, so you could include canned cranberry sauce. If I were to receive that a month after moving to Romania, I would be thrilled! Plus, they're probably so busy between now and the time they leave with packing and goodbyes that they won't have time to go out and have dinner...
