Wedding guest attire

Hi ladies,I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks. The ceremony is at 12pm and the reception is at 7pm (I know, long gap).I was thinking of wearing a knee length halter dress (red and white, mainly red with white detail) to the ceremony. My question is, should I change for the reception? I know the bride is changing into a short cocktail dress if that helps. TIA

that gap is ridiculous.  why would you change?  even if you were in the WP, why?

With a gap like that, I suspect it is a Roman Catholic wedding. You might want to check on the acceptability of bare shoulders in church. Some parishes might be accepting, others not.

I've been to plenty of weddings with a 4-5 hour gap, and I've never changed my outfit from the ceremony to the reception.

I would not change for reception. I would however pack a wrap or shawl to wear in church.

I've never changed after a gap either, but I guess it's up to you.  If you want to change I don't see why  not, but it's not really necessary.

I wouldn't even go to the ceremony if there was a gap that big.

Here in St. Louis the vast majority of weddings take place with a 4-6 hour gap.  There are so many catholics here, its just the way it has to be.That being said, I've been to plenty of afternoon weddings with evening receptions, and never have I changed my outfit.
