does this make me mean?

I feel like as I shop around for vendors there's always a time that I get into deep negotiations and then bam...i find another person who beats their price or has something better to offer. Does this happen to other brides? is it normal part of the business? IDK i feel slightly guilty, but they don't feel guilty overcharging me so i guess it all works out.

  • Do you give the vendor a chance to meet or beat your new offer? And keep in mind, just because they're cheaper doesn't mean they are better. If someone is willing to do something for substantially less than another vendor, it might be for a reason.

  • Don't worry about it. Do you feel guilty buying something from Target rather than Pottery Barn, just because it's cheaper? My guess is no :) Vendors know you're going to go with the person who does the best work and for the cheapest price. They should try to be both, but that won't work for everyone and isn't possible for every vendor.

  • I did this quite a few times when i was looking at vendors and i openly told them, when asked, the reason as to why i decided to go with someone else. I regret nothing! Our wedding was awesome and our vendors were amazing. Good luck and dont feel so bad! Its all a business and the one thing i learned when planning our wedding, you are a one time customer. Just because you arent willing to pay a price doesnt mean there isnt someone standing right behind you that is.

  • Yes it is a part of buisness, and if you decide to go with someone else, you shouldn't feel guilty, however I agree w/w valleyhoo.  If you are in the middle of negotiations w/ vendors (and since you are in the middle of negotiations, I am guessing that you like them), you should give them the chance to meet the new price before you drop them.  Like she said, cheaper does not always = better, especially in the wedding buisness.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • I so agree with the last poster. This is all about shopping around and I just would let that Vendor know that I am meeting with several other Vendors also and thats it. If they have a problem take your business somewhere else. I don't like pushy or rude businessess.  You have to find someone who you feel comfortable and trust them with your preferences and such for this special day.
  • Thanks. I already cancelled one room block with what i thought was a very polite email and the guy never responded..i guess he was that upset.! oh well..
